Common Cache Hiding Places

What are some common cache hiding places? I have looked forever for caches that people have called a "quick find" or "easy find". I'm new to this and I only found 3. I am more interested in bush ones, not urban ones.

:D

Under a pile of sticks

under a pile of rocks

in a hole in a hollow tree

hanging from a branch, especially in an evergreen

laying on the ground in plain sight but disguised as something else

And DO NOT believe everything you read. ;)

Some people will say it was a quick an easy find when the reality is that it took them maybe an hour to make the find.

Now some logs you can figure out when someone is being sarcastic, especially if the rating is high. Those entries are usually made by a friend of the CO who is pulling their leg.

Wooden Fenceposts, where knots have fallen out.

Around the bases of bushes, under leaves. I've found a few there in a little hole that i wouldn't have noticed unless i moved leaves.

Under rocks (check the rocks, some people are evil and put them in fake ones)

If its magnetic...road signs! Bring a magnet with you so you can tell which part is magnetized. Usually between the sign itself and the pole.

Good luck! :D

Mountain Monster, try looking for caches that have a size of "regular" rather than small or micro. Then you can try looking for ones that have a low Difficulty rating combined with a higher Terrain rating. That should give you the more rural hides hidden in "typical" manners. Different parts of the world have different typical hides - where we are, hiding a regular sized cache in the woods under sticks or pine straw is common. You try to train your eye to see something slightly different (like the angle of one corner of the can) or a pile of sticks that looks unnatural. Sometimes you need a stick to poke around with if the ground cover if heavy or if it has not been found in a while (a quick and easy find turns into something harder with a few inches of leaves and pine straw added on top!). As other people have said sometimes the cache is tucked into a hole in a tree and they can be hanging up as well. A year from now your own idea of what is a quick and easy find will probably have changed due to your experience! Enjoy.

There is a cache here that someone crafted from resin that looks like a medium sized rock (larger than the hide-a-key variety) It is very convincing. It sits out in plain sight and yet is overlooked very easily as the high DNF stat can attest. So be sure look at and under the rocks too.

Also don't forget to look up. We tend to search for stuff at the base of trees or in hollows with our heads down. We found more than a few caches hanging high in a tree suspended by a rope and one at the top of a flag pole.

We have found caches in the woods hidden in logs that were carefully sawn in half and scooped out, nanos in the ends of smaller logs and toy creatures, and fake rocks in amongst rocks.

One that made me shiver was a large toy bug that was clinging to tree bark. Had it been a June bug, I would still be shivering - even our cats can't stand those things!

We have also seen "other" caches ranging from a lost pet poster, metallic strips with random lettering on, bird houses....also one small lock and lock that had some sort of glue on it, was rolled in the pea gravel where it sat in full view of everyone, but disappeared at the same time. Sadly that got buried under about 6" of bark mulch recently.

We are new to this as well and have been amazed by the hiding places. The best one yet was someone actually hid the cache beneath the base of a street light. I never knew you could lift those things up. Thank goodness for the hint or we would have struck out!

I always have to check the number of caches found for people who post things like this. I can't tell if it's sarcasm or not otherwise :D

Not meaning to bash on LPCs. I love 'em :P

Every fiind is quick and easy when you know where it is! :)
