Loc File from watchlist not parsing correctly

Hello,

I have attempted to download the loc file of upcoming Mega Events and it seems to be corrupted (again).

The manner of downloading is go to http://www.geocaching.com/bookmarks/view.aspx?guid=0045c8ed-3264-461c-982e-252931737834

Then check the check icon at the upper left of the table. This then checks all the caches. Hitting the download to .loc button works downloads a .loc file.

Trying to import this file into gsak fails. XMLlint on this file complains

</waypoint>Thanks for Playing by Nice Try

^

geocaching (52).loc:184: parser error : Extra content at the end of the document

<coord lat="0" lon="0"/>

Thanks for Playing by Nice Try is not mentioned in the bookmarklist page above.

A similar issue was reported in the posting below.

http://forums.Groundspeak.com/GC/index.php?showtopic=324488&st=0&p=5411941&fromsearch=1entry5411941

That one went away with time as a cache entered its one year before event window.

Hopefully the lackeys remedy this.

As in the prior thread, you are trying to download a file for a cache on the bookmark list that hasn't yet been published. As a security measure the site returns the "Thanks for Playing, Nice Try" message when users attempt this.

I did not check every Mega Event in the list, but I know of at least one (Midwest GeoBash 2015) that isn't published, because it's sitting in my "on hold" queue.

Howdy

There is no check mark next to such a cache. I thought my eyes were failing so I did a search and the word "playing" is not even on the bookmark list page.

Howdy,

I checked again, assuming all the dates listed on the bookmark list are valid. There is no way I could have selected a cache called Thanks for Playing, Nice Try from the list. %27Upcoming%20Mega-Events%27%20-%20www_geocaching_com_bookmarks_view_aspx_guid%3D0045c8ed-3264-461c-982e-252931737834.png?dl=0Even with just two valid caches on the list, it all seems good.

A screenshot of my check marks is attached.

There is no Event called "Playing" Read what Keystone says:

I am tracking now. The issue is that the midwest geobash has not been published.

Why would they put such a cache on the bookmark list?

Because the Midwest GeoBash has been a Mega-Event for the past decade, and Geocaching HQ finished its work with the organizers this week for the 2015 version. That work ended with upgrading the event page to Mega-Event status (which can only be applied by a Lackey), placing the listing on the Mega-Event bookmark list, and releasing the event listing into the Ohio review queue. I picked it up from there. Hopefully the listing can be published soon.

As I pointed out in the previous message that doesn't fix the problem. The problem is that when an unpublished cache is included, the XML that is generated is not well-formed. Once the cache is published, the system will generate well-formed and valid XML, but the code used to generated a waypoint for an unpublished caches appears to be broken.
