Neptunes Compass

Hard to believe that I started this project back in July 2008 but it's almost here! Neptune was a troublemaker! Anyhow, thought I'd share 2 of the samples being made now (mint artwork). There are 4 levels to this coin and Neptune himself is 3D and will be featured underwater

:). I'm scheduled to mint 350 coins (can do about 500 if it appears there is demand) and I won't know for sure what I'll be offering but I am having 4 version samples minted and then I'll tweak colors/metals if needed. Surprisingly there isn't an animal on this coin :(

I'll post in a couple weeks with photos so you can get a really good idea of how this will look. If you look closely at the mint artwork, you'll see colors added differently, I did different placements for each version to give it an unique look. The antique copper will also be the version with the most metal exposed.

Ok, that's it for now

Edit to add: The N, S, E, W are symbols from the Atlantean alphabet :( Lost City of Atlantis. Oh yeah it's trackable too.

I left it smaller and the details out to leave a little to the imagination :( That way when samples come in, you'll get to see the difference between what you thought it would look like and how it truly turns out. Kinda fun dontcha think, lol? I know, instant gratification is nice but you know me, I'm kinda mean and a big tease that way :)

..are you kidding? :( If it appears there is demand? :) I'd be surprised if they wouldn't be sold out in a few minutes...

For this coin silver and blue is definitively a must have, because it fits so good to the Neptune theme... I'm already curious how they will turn out... The drawings already look great!

Ok I don't wish to be the one to say it, but I have to..

Between your good self Tsun, Savoy, Scavok, F&H and all the other designers I believe you are all in it together in a plot to keep my wallet empty by fiendishly creating mini pieces of art that I just have to have. I'm onto you, but for now I'll continue to play along just to see where it all leads, just know I'm onto you all :D

To address the reservation issue:

* While I understand the appeal of reservations, I no longer take reservations for a number of reasons. 1.) I honestly don't have the time that reservations require. 2.) I've been burned a couple of times and I really don't want to have to deal with those situations. 3.) I have the webstore and that was to help relieve me of the time constraints and make for a quicker transaction (much to the dismay of some). 4.) I just don't want to go backwards and I really want to enjoy some free time.

*Now having said all that, please know this; I am currently working with a company to redesign my website/webstore. I have invested and continue to invest alot of time and $$$ in this. Everything will be converted into 1 site. I have spent several hours with the company owner addressing 'cart' issues and my needs for this store. This is my #1 priority to make a smoother and less frustrating process for everyone who orders and in turn less frustrations for me. Next is addressing minting numbers; I really am trying find an even balance here. I need to produce an amount of coins that is within my ability to ship in a timely manner. In the past I have spent an entire weekend having done reservations, invoicing, printing invoices shipping labels, packaging, addressing customs forms and then hauling packages to the Post Office. That's alot for 1 person to take on and my weekend is pretty much shot. So, this is why I have gone to more remints because it allows me to handle the amount of orders, still have some free time, get other designs moving, etc. make sense? I definitely don't like having frustrated customers but I know that it is going to happen no matter what I do but I'm trying to lessen the blow here. Once my new website is up and running (very late March to early April), I intend to do things a bit differently that should benefit everyone. There will be more remints (explained in a newsletter) and I do plan on trying to have "in stock" coins  I think for the most part customers will won't need to feel so rushed if they are willing to be patient. This whole geocoin thing has been a major learning experience for me and it has grown faster than I ever anticipated. I'm trying to adjust to all of this as fast as I can within my means. I think you (everyone) will see some very positive changes this year and less frustrations. I will have more details in a future newsletter but for now that is the best I can tell you. Just try and be patient while I address issues and know that I always listen but it isn't always possible to give everyone what they need. I have learned that I need to take care of me in order to take care of you  The only exception to large, first round of minting editions will be for the Earth Turtle Oceania, I do realize the magnitude in popularity these little guys bring, so I will be minting 1,000 right off the bat (and i can tell you I'm not looking forward to shipping after that sale

Ok, hope that helps alleviate some anxiety/frustration for now. As the sale time nears and samples get published and depending on where I'm at with my web designers; I will post all necessary information and hopefully have addressed the amount needed for a "happy" sale.

Sincerely,

tsun

OOH My Goodness Stephanie, They are absolutely beautiful. Nice to see a different coin idea. You did such a fantastic job. Keep up the job well done. Val is away from home taking care of a friend that underwent knee surgery and I will have to keep watch of this coin for her when it will be for sale. This will be one she will not want to miss.

Thanks for the nice comments all, very much appreciated. This isn't my usual style and just wanted to try something different outside of animals B) Neptune was the biggest challenge on this coin because I just couldn't get the factory to understand changes and they had problems because I drew the art and didn't know how to translate a drawing into 3D...anyhow, we did get it done. Not sure at this point in time what I'll be doing sale wise but I'll decide this weekend.

Here are the other 2 versions; satin gold and antique copper. The samples are suppose to ship about March 2nd to me and then I'll get a nice set of photos. I'm thinking I would like at least 1 version with no enamels just to see the levels this coin was done in although I'll keep Neptune under water on all versions.

Again, thanks for the comments, it's always very nerve-wracking when you come out with a design cause you want people to like it. :D
