+RedWheatBeer
Good afternoon! I have a Magellan eXplorist GC that was purchased brand new when they first came out. It is at Firmware V1.0. I am dusting off my geocaching hobby and wanted to get this GPS up to speed. I found from the Magellan forums the current firmware 2.15 must be installed on V1.8. The unfortunate part is that the 1.8 installation also throws me an error "GPS Device Error! - Incorrect GPS device connected for this upgrade!" Is there another interim firmware version I need to upgrade to first? I have found nothing else about this on the Magellan site. I have submitted a question via email, but no response as of yet. +gpsblake
I believe 1.8 was never available to the public for a download, it was identical to 1.7 except they called it 1.8 on pre-installed units. My suggestion is try 1.7, then upgrade to 2.15, which is what I did when I owned that unit. Quote Link to comment
+RedWheatBeer
Thanks for the tip. That 1.7 firmware is only available as a .exe, so I can't even run the beast. I will have to wait for a time when I have a windows computer available for use. Cheers! Bret Quote Link to comment
+RedWheatBeer
Perfect! This issue is now closed! I found a Windows computer on the weekend and updated the GPS with the exes instead of using my Mac. Fantastic! Thanks again, cycle4ever! Bret Quote Link to comment
