Slower Approval Time?

I don't know if I am in a bad luck phase but I am convinced that in the last couple of months the approval time increased significantly. Let's see... I keep creating waymarks at the same pace... about 4 to 6 every day. Before, there were days when I have no submitted WM pending. Right now I am counting 18! Is it only me?

Perhaps it's because I review only one time per week at the moment.

"Waymarking Burn Out" could be another reason.

Things are better in the last couple days. Why are you active just once per week? I hope everything is OK with you :-)

I think once a week is too seldom to review waymarks. My goal is to clear my queue at least once per day. That is not always possible, of course and there are times that several days or even a week may go by, but not often. I think every three days should be the minimum since the stated goal is to have waymarks reviewed within 72 hours. Of course, if there are at least three active officers reviewing waymarks in each category, then every three days should provide quick turn around. Unfortunately, we know that there are some categories where only one person is really actively reviewing waymarks. I think that should be the real goal, then the burden doesn't fall on just one person. Three is a minimum.

Which makes me wonder about a certain group whose category that I post to often. Is there some reason why someone would want to "hog" approvals? As an officer, I've never seen (nor cared to see) a count of the number of Waymarks I have approved. (What would be the point anyway?)

 

But the group to which I refer has only one officer, and he or she will not (i) open the group for enrollment, and (ii) will not accept any suggestion to allow someone else to help him or her -- and I made it clear that I am not necessarily angling for the job. Why call it a "group" if it is just one person??

 

Anyway, the waymarks do get approved usually in about 3 or 4 days, unless this "group" is on vacation or otherwise unavailable for a week. The approval time would be shorter, and there would be less stress on the person if they would simply allow someone else to help out. The category does not have difficult requirements that could cause intragroup confusion or disagreement. The requirements are very simple.

 

So why would someone do that? Is there some numerical, psychological, monetary (OK, so I'm grasping at straws) reason excuse for being a one man show?

The last years I cleared my queue almost daily (or every hour), but there are times you have to do other things which are more important. If I see that waymarks are waiting one week, I promote an additional officer. For me it's no question to review more Waymarks for a period if I know my fellow officers are busy with other things.
