+Nada Clue
When my Garmin Etrx30 is plugged in via USB is it drawing power from the USB or the device batteries? Thanks Quote Link to comment
RuideAlmeida
Both my Dakota 20 and old 60CSx use the power from the PC, Power Bank, car lighter, etc. when USB connected; so I presume is the same with Etrex. Quote Link to comment

fendmar
I can change the batteries in my 60CSx with the unit on and connected via USB without it missing a beat. So it seems the batteries aren't required when it is running off USB. Not sure what that might mean for your etrex. Quote Link to comment
+BAMBOOZLE
Most , if not all, of my units can be powered by USB without batteries in them. Quote Link to comment
+BCandMsKitty
When plugged into the USB connection, the Etrex does not use battery power. we do this all the time with a USB adapter connected to our power port in the truck to conserve battery while traveling between more distant caches. We do the same with my GpsMap 62s. Edited June 10, 2015 by BC & MsKitty Quote Link to comment

Especially if they're not rechargeable! : Quote Link to comment
