+Gareth23
Hi since upgrading to Windows 10 from 8.1 I've not been able to write GC information to my Oregon 200. Instead of the normal successfully saved I'm getting a file path. Works perfectly on our other 8.1 computer. Anybody else having similar problems? +D&GPowell
Using windows 10 and just tried loading cache information from GC, using the garmin communicator with no problems. Quote Link to comment
+2wheels4cache
I am having the same experience as Garth23. D&GPowell, how did you get it to work? What browser are you using? Did you have to load any additional software, and is so, what? Quote Link to comment
+D&GPowell
No additional software, and using Firefox as my browser, only did what I have always done. Open cache page and click on sent to GPS. Quote Link to comment
+StefandD
Garmin Communicator returns to the default program. So if you're using Firefox, but Microsoft Edge is the default, Communicator returns an error. So make sure Firefox is the default program. Quote Link to comment

Needed to reinstall Communicator but got the message Firefox is no longer supported! Still won't work. Interestingly my wife's computer currently running 8.1 and fine for Garmin has just had the Win 10 available. Will do a before and after. (Actually I would quite like to go out geocaching!!). +2wheels4cache
Instaled Firefox browser. Tried sending a geocache to Garmin GPSr - said had to download Garmin Communicator. Again installed Garmin Communictor. Tried sending a geocache to Garmin GPSr - said Firefox did not accept plug-ins. Recommended downloading a patch to Internet Exporer. Downloaded patch. Tried sending a geocache to Garmin GPSr - again got message that Firefox did not accept plug-ins. Retried with Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Internet Edge .... none accept plug-ins even though I keep downloading patch and clicking OK to run that plug-in. Wondering if I need to uninstall Windows 10 and go back to Windows 8.1. That would send o GPSr from Windows Explorer, not Chrome. Previous edition of Wndows would work from both Internet Eplorer and Chrome, but the computer died. Quote Link to comment
+StefandD
Tried installing Firefox and made it my default. Needed to reinstall Communicator but got the message Firefox is no longer supported! How did you make it your default? In Firefox itself? You need to make it default in Windows by choosing Control Panel --> Programs --> Default Programs. Quote Link to comment

+Bruin47
Could you describe the process step-by-step please. I have Win 10 and both Basecamp and the Geocache page do not recognise my Garmin map 62s. I get the error that communicator is not supported in Firefox (I have Firefox 40) I went to control panal and set Firefox as default browser - is that what you set the default to? But still not able to get GPS recognised. Any help greatly appreciated. **Sorted** I've been trying to get my GPS Recognised for 3 days now, believing it was somthing to do with recently updating to Win10. As I've already tried a number of things, this morning I used a different USB Cable and that worked. Thought they were all the same but obviousley not. +StefandD
The Communicator is only for communication between web services and your 62. Basecamp doesn't use Communicator. So if BC doesn't recognize your unit, something else is going on: Windows itself is unable to see your 62. You probably can't see your 62 in Windows Explorer too. Windows should play a sound when a USB device is connected and your 62 should be added to the list of drives you see under My Computer. Mostly, the problem is a faulty USB cable (somehow these things can suddenly become sour!). So try other USB cables. The thicker the cable, the better. Some cables are for charging only without the possibility of data transfer and are usually thinner. Sometimes it can be the USB port. So try other ports too. ***EDIT*** we cross posted. Glad you sorted it out! Edited August 29, 2015 by StefandD Quote Link to comment
GabyMontbrison
Hi. I have quit the same problem since I changed Windows 8.1 to 10. Third Edge, Firefox & Chrome say that Garmin plugin is no more supported "Firefox ne prend plus en charge ce module externe". Only IE recognize my Montana 600 but when I click on "Write", I can quickly read "Processing date to write" with the folder (ex: H:/Garmin/GPX/GC5ND3P.GPX) and nothing happen. I tried to define Firefox as default program as described by StephandD but plugin not supported !!! I tried also with 2 different USB cable but nothing better. I tried also with another computer with 7 and all is OK, as it was with W8.1 My GPS is recognize by Bascamp without problem. I use Norton Internet Security Someone could help me to find a solution Thank you Quote Link to comment
derekjohn37
Exactly the same problem here. (Garmin Etrex 10) Problem appeared on 2 PC's (desk & laptop) immediately after Windows 10 upgrade. Tried all of the suggestions above. No change. Please help! Quote Link to comment
+Gareth23
Hi I found that it was essential after making the changes described above to switch off the computer completely before restarting. Good luck! Quote Link to comment
+londontavern
No problems with Windows 10, FireFox, Garmin Communicator and 'send gpx to My GPS' (Etrex_30). Windows 10, FireFox set as Default Browser, FireFox set in Widows 10 as default browser. Plug in Etrex_30 (for the first time), select as usb drive, windows report problems with external drive connection but appears to fix this (finds required drivers). On PC look at Etrex_30 files for both internal memory and external memory card all OK. Log into geocaching.com, select a Cache page, "send to My GPS", pop up "garmin Communicator not found", select download link. This was followed by various FireFox messages of 'not supported' and 'not allowed' blah1 blah1 blah! messages. Worked my way through by 'ignoring and allowing'. Restart FireFox. Find a cache page, 'send to gps', communicator opens and have choice of write to Garmin or memor card. Wrote to both and all is well. So no problems but was it a fluke? I don't know but it works as expected. Quote Link to comment
+sandhill6061
Sure not looking forward to WIN 10 but going to have to make the change soon. Note on a couple of things, the communicator hasn't worked for me with Firefox for about a year. I always use GSAK to load caches. Never had a problem. Quote Link to comment

I have W10 + Firefox on a 10" tablet and the communicator works with that. My desktop is still W8.1 + Firefox and a few weeks ago the communicator went AWOL for a while then came back. Have not been able to figure out why. Quote Link to comment
