+Sanne&Kiki
Hello everyone, when we are caching in non-German-speaking countries, we usually write our logs in English, so that other visitors from abroad (and also the cache owner) can understand us better. However, we usually try to use at least a few words of the local language when we express our thanks for the cache in our log entry! This works quite well for the Nordic countries, as we've already been caching there several times. But now that we're just logging a cache trip that took us to some countries like Poland, Hungary and Slovenia, we're a bit puzzled about how to thank the owner in those languages in a proper way! So I'd like to ask you for your help - let's collect all the different languages! I'll start with German: Vielen Dank für den Cache! Thanks in advance for your help! Kiki Quote Link to comment

Amharic (Ethiopia): ????? VP's quote is funny, especially coming from a Canadian. Now I can't speak for France, but I live right next to Canada, and not only is Merci pour le Cache correct, it is very often abbreviated MPLC, just as us English speakers use TFTC in logs. cezanne
The Slovenians who are not using TFTC typically write "hvala za zaklad" (zaklad means treasure). I also encountered hvala za cache (both in Slovenia and Croatia). By the way: I often read "Danke fuer den Schatz" in logs in German language and also the abbreviation "DfdS". Quote Link to comment

+Chrysalides
Japanese : キャッシュをありがとうございました NYPaddleCacher's Chinese (simplified) log gives the Chinese word for cache, as in memory cache (electronic circuit). I'm not sure what the local convention is, perhaps they use the term interchangeably. But according to Groundspeak's cache note, perhaps the term "寶藏" might be more appropriate. So maybe 感谢寶藏 (though that does sound a bit awkward in Mandarin). I looked through a number of cache logs in China and Taiwan but couldn't find something I can copy from. Quote Link to comment

I cheated and used Google translate for most of the ones I listed. I'm going to be in Rome and Brussels in about three weeks so I ought to confirm the preferred versions for Italian and it looks like most of the cache listings in Brussels are in Dutch and French.
