Premium caches (cosmetic bug)

If I zoom out map, I can see caches for premium members, but I am not PM. Its just cosmetic bug. I cannot log it.

I don't see any Premium Member Only caches on your maps.

 

I see your two finds...the round smiley faces.

 

I see "?" caches...mystery or puzzle caches.

 

In zoomed in map, if there were PMO caches, they would be indicated by a round icon. For example, the ones on the map that are square boxes...if they were PMO, those would be circles.

Are you talking about the "advanced" caches (that's what they were calling them last...) that, as a basic member, you're not able to access with the app?

- They're not (all) premium member-only caches.

 

I believe they stay on the map for marketing reasons, as well as reference when looking to place a cache.

You see them on the map, and "just have to find those too" kinda thing.

The only way to do that is get a premium membership (or buy a hand-held GPSr).

It's always been the case that when zoomed out to a certain level (12 comes to mind) a basic member will see PM only caches. That's because at that zoom level the system is actually showing you a pre-compiled overlay of the caches, whereas at the closer zoom levels it it displaying each individual cache, this is also the reason why your finds no-longer show up when zoomed out. So it's not a bug, it's designed that way.

To the OP: Basic Members are allowed to see the general location of PMO caches when zoomed out to a certain level (5-km/3-mile or beyond). If you are closer than 5-km/3-mile, then you can't see the PMO caches. I think this is to give Basic Members an idea of how many PMO caches are available, in case they're wondering whether it's worthwhile to buy the Premium Membership. It also gives Basic Members an idea of what areas are not available for them to hide their caches.

In the "zoomed out" map, that mass of Traditionals near Hluchov are all PMO caches. At that zoom level, the icons are the same shape regardless of whether it's PMO or not.

 

In the "zoomed in" map, those Traditional caches do not show up because the map is zoomed in at the level where PMO caches are no longer visible to Basic Members.
