Have a Question for Garmin Oregon owner

I need your help. I want to see if my setup is correct for Geocaching. I am on Geocaching profile.

 

Here is what I have on my setup:

 

Geocache List: Show names

 

Geocache Style: Auto

 

Chirp Searching: OFF

 

Filter Setup: I am not sure which to pick

 

Found Geocaches: O

 

Any help would be appreciated.

There is no "correct" setup for geocaching. You have the power to customize your GPS for your own style and preferences.

 

As far as filter goes, just make sure you are at least showing something... IE it is possible to filter out all geocaches, resulting in an empty list or none showing up on the map.

I left those at the factory setting, not changing any of the "Filter Settings" on that screen. Except for Chirp, which I turn on at times when I plan to get a Chirp signal.

Last night I downloaded three caches. while it hooked with my computer, I checked GPX folder. It has all the list which I downloaded. Then I turned the handheld GPS on. I Clicked Profile Geocaching. I clicked "pix of Treasure box" I am wondering why it doesn't show up on the menu? This is what I am trying to figure it out what I did wrong. I have been struggling for hours and came out the same result. I must have overlook. I need your feedback. Thanks!

Do you see each caches' "traasure box" icon on the map? If so, it seems like it's not a filter setting. Were you able to view the cache information at all?

 

Important: Caches beyond a certain distance (~60 miles I think) will not automatically be listed. In order to view them, either scroll the map to see the caches, or travel until you are closer to the cache.
