Monterra with SD card

Having newly purchased a Garmin Monterra (previously owned a Montana), the SD card only seems useful for loading maps or tracks. I can't send my pictures to it and even if I put them in using the computer to transfer them, they will not show in Gallery.

Similarly with Geocaches, I can not get the Geocaches onto the memory card from GSAK, only from Basecamp, and then the Monterra can not find them.

With the 3gb map preloaded into the internal memory of the Monterra, the spaced is quickly being used up.

Does anyone have any answers?

Are you loading them into folders on the card? If you're simply loading them into the root directory they won't work. Geocache .gpx files need to go into a folder named Garmin\GPX if the Monterra works like other Garmin handhelds. Jpegs into Garmin\JPEG

I take it you were referring to loading the geocaches, not the pictures. I have tried this now, I set up a folder labelled 'Garmin, GPX'on the sd card, pasted the geocaches into it and deleted them from the internal memory, checked the GPS, and it works.

However when I download the GSAK database into the Monterra again, it puts the caches into the Garmin folder on the internal memory again, whereas I would like to download them onto the SD card, thus updating/overwriting the existing file.

I was wondering if I deleted the 'Garmin and/or the GPX' file on internal memory, whether the GSAK database would then load to the SD card instead of the internal memory, but I don't like to take the risk, without confirmation that this will work.

Can you help me please?

GPS >> Send Waypoints will always put them in internal memory.

Use File >> Export >> GPX to send them to the SD card. Or better yet, use the GarminExport macro.

Are you sure the Garmin Export Macro works on the Monterra. I seem to recall a quite lengthy discussion and a bunch of work done by Clyde to get it to work because it is Android?

Not sure if it was resolved with a different macro or got included in the original.
