Hi all,

With my 21st coming up people have been asking me what i want!!! As a geocacher or sad as some of my family think, what i really want is a GPS, i have looked at the etrex 30 and the Dakota 10, i find the touch screen of the Dakota 10 easier that the etrex 30, what are people's opinion on this? and what else can people suggest that is not too pricey????

Thanks in advance

I'd go for the Etrex 30 hands down.....its a better unit with more features.

Go on line and do a side by side comparison.....a Dakota 20 is really the touch screen counter part of the Etrex 30.

The Oregon 450 is a model line above the Dakota as the 62S is above the Etrex....both these have been on sale in the $200 range of late and ,while being discontinued, are a great value.

Push buttons seem to be much easier (for me) when wearing gloves in the colder weather.

- Yet to get a touchscreen to work without taking off gloves.

Of course your location may be such that you never have to worry about gloves.

We've seen Garmin's 62s/st series around 200 bucks now.

You need to buy special touch screen gloves. Head and Northface both make some nice ones.

No, I don't. I'd rather gloves served their purpose of keeping hands warm.

- Thanks for the info though. :)
