BrattyKitteh
I only want to design a drop coin for my BF and I, just to show when we find a cache. It doesn't need to be trackable.... just something cool. I read the rules about trackables, but I'm not sure if the same thing applies here. This would be something I would make myself. Thanks for the help. Quote Link to comment
+K13
What's a "drop coin"? I haven't heard that term used before. If you want to make an item and add a code number so you can use it to track your own travels, maybe buy a trackable tag and use its code number on your personal item. Quote Link to comment
RuideAlmeida
I think you mean a coin that he can drop and retrieve on every visited cache, is it so? If you don't want that coin to be trackable, you don't need to worry about the rules. Just make it like a signature item... that he can photograph with every new cache he Found. +LaughterOnWater
I think BrattyKitteh wants to create a non-tracked/collectible swag token that she can leave in a cache as proof that she was there. She doesn't want to buy a code for each coin because --> $$$$/paperwork. A list of manufacturers... https://support.Groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=333 Creating non-trackable swag looks not that much less expensive than trackables. Quote Link to comment

+ubermick
Yeah, I've been looking into this as well - something groovy to drop into nice caches, maybe have them be a series. Pondered trackable as well, but for some reason, travel bugs in the USA seem to go missing a lot more than they do back in Europe. Anyways, searched around, and the "best" path seems to be "challenge coin" minters, who'll bang them out. They basically work out to $400 for 100 though, which is a little spendy for my blood. A friend of mine has a Shapeoko though, so pondering doing some engraved wooden coins instead. Quote Link to comment
+Nubster
Years ago I bought a big bag of blank wooden coins that are about 1.5" across. You can get sheets of blank round labels that you can print on with an Ink/Laser Jet printer and make your own custom coins that way. Kinda cheap but they are still pretty cool. I also had a handful of laser engraved wooden coins made back then too. Still have some of each. I'm just getting back into Geocaching and I have a load of the blanks left so I'll probably get more blank labels and finish off what I have before I move on to something a little nicer. AmyRRT
I just bought a batch of glass "cabochon" things on Wish. I bought 10 to start to try them out. I am going to print something off myself and modpodge to the backside. I'll update with a photo when I get them done and see if it's what you mean. It will just say something like "found it!" or "TFTC" with my tag AMYRRT. Quote Link to comment
Sgt. 13
Pretty new to Geocache but this is what I've been making to trade or drop in caches that I really like. Coins are cut from 1-1/8" aluminum rod bar at .150 thick, vinyl stickers , that my granddaughter makes for me, are placed on each side. I have been using Mod Podge Dimensional Magic over the top but am leaning more towards Allumalite epoxy for clarity. 1 1 Quote Link to comment
