winged_kat
Hello, just a question about signing physical logs. When I find a cache should I be signing the log using my real name or my username? The first couple of caches I found I used my actual name but then I thought maybe it is better if the name I am signing with matches my account name so currently I have been signing logs as winged_kat. Can someone please tell me which is better or if it matters? Thanks Quote Link to comment

Thanks It's up to you, but to avoid confusion, you should "winged_kat", or in the case of a very thin log sheet (such as in a nano), you may use initials like "wk". If you log something other than your cachername, you can mention that in the online log. The previous caches can be left as is. Edited September 13, 2014 by kunarion Quote Link to comment

Agreed....since so many caches are micro's for years I've just signed " BAM ". My wife will log Bamboozle and then date it....on a FTF she puts the time as well. Quote Link to comment
+kunarion
on a FTF she puts the time as well. I like that idea. Mainly I just like to sign STF and see that the FTF signed it at 5:00AM, and I'm impressed that they were up that early. Quote Link to comment

Thanks We sign logs with our username, as the cache owner wouldn't know our real names, should they do an audit of the physical logs against the online logs. What you can do now, if you like, is to edit your online logs to add "signed log as xxxx" B. Quote Link to comment
+niraD
The first few caches I found, I signed the log with my real name. I hadn't created a geocaching.com account. Since then, I usually sign with my geocaching.com account name. The exception has been a few group trips where we've made up an informal group name and signed that in the logs where space was a concern. Then in our online logs, we mention that we signed as "GBA ECR" or "GBA Kayakers" or "Karl's Krew" or whatever. Quote Link to comment
+dprovan
The idea is to sign with your handle. No one cares what your real name is. No big deal, though. Quote Link to comment
