There definitely are some cachers in your area. Fastest way to find them is to look at who is placing and finding caches in your area. You can then use the website to contact them. (Through the forums is a good way too).

It's already been said, but I'll stress it again - if you can make it to a CREW event, it's an amazing time to meet local cachers. Also, if you're quick on the draw, you may have a good chance of meeting up with other cachers if you try to achieve a first to find on newly published area caches

Depending on where they're published, there are a few who up and run out the door to try for that FTF bragging right =)

I would be one, but my current nearest cache is 8km away (because I'm not a crow) and usually by the time I know about the cache (because I only get E-mail notifications, not messages sent to my phone, causing it to play a sound...) It's already been found at least once! Even if it wasn't though, it would be after the 2 hour walk.

I looked into that, but I'm not old enough to go into a bar...

The fact that it is held in a tavern is not an issue, the event is open to all ages.

Does anyone know when/where the next CREW event is? We are just starting out this week, and would love to meet some experienced people.

seeing as the past few CREW events have all been at the edelweiss tavern, the next one is likely going to be there as well. no guarantees tho ;)

How do we set up a notification? Sorry, I am still trying to figure out the whole site.

http://www.geocaching.com/notify/default.aspx (the link is in your profile on the right)

create a new one, select the cache type you're interested in and the log types you're interested in. in this case you want "publish" notifications for event caches. you also need to choose a point of origin and a radius/distance.

Hi guys,

Things have gotten quite crazy with a new job and other health issues with Doc.

We are putting almost all of the Super_Doc caches up for adoption if anyone is interested.

We have archived a bunch if they weren't heavily favorited.

But the really favorited ones we want to find them good homes if people are interested.

We are keeping the library caches and of course the Super_Doc on our front lawn :).

There is 2 main loops we have that are pretty nice, the Iron Horse Trail that literally goes from Kitchener down into the middle of Waterloo.

These are all very urban hides, and we won't lie, they do take some maintenance as some are hidden in plain sight and quite crafty.

The other really amazing trail is the Homer Watson Loop. This is a really great hike and some really high favorite points here also.

Doc has had some health issues that have taken up quite a bit of extra care and mom has a new job that has her driving alot.

Email or message if your interested.

Super_Doc and Team.

Sorry that it has to happen, but life is more important /:) I'd adopt an iron horse or two, but I fear that as you say, the uniqueness and craftiness of some of them might make no very good of a maintainer ... I'll have to look at them and see if there's any I could nab up. I hope they do get adopted though, they're favourited for very good reason! :D

The CREW events have apparently been changed to 3 a year (maybe 4, can't remember). It's unfortunate, but they do put a lot of time and effort into planning them amongst the group. Hope you're able to make it to the next one! If you upgrade to premium you can't turn on notifications and have a better chance of getting in before the attendance fills up ;) (but usually there's overflow into the rest of the restaurant anyway, so there's really no way you can't go if the number is maxed :) )
