Average Time for New Cache Review

Good afternoon folks!

I am new to the game but have managed to find my first three caches in two days and I have also placed a new one.

Question: on average, in the UK, how long does it take for a reviewer to pick up a new cache to be reviewed?

Many thanks and keep up the good work!

There really isn't an "average" time. Some can take only minutes, others a week or so -- assuming there are no "issues" with the placement. Issues with the placement can really extend the time. Communication with the reviewer is key.

Springtime is the worst I think... everybody wants to place hides in the spring. Makes for a fair backlog in some areas.

Did you receive the email from noreply@geocaching.com to confirm that your submission went through?

Did you check your cache page to see if there are any Reviewer Notes that you need to respond to?

1.5. My geocache has not been reviewed

If you've successfully submitted a geocache for review, and have read the email from noreply@geocaching.com, you know that geocache listings are reviewed by community volunteer reviewers. Reviewers strive to begin the review within 7 days of enabling your listing.

You may experience longer than normal waiting time in the week following a holiday, or after a large geocaching event. We ask for your patience. Please keep in mind that reviewers are volunteers and sometimes things come up in their lives that delay geocache review.

Many thanks for your prompt answer! yes I have received the email which confirms submission. I think it will take a few days especially because of the Monday Bank Holiday! What an exciting game! Had so much fun today in Camden Town.

By definition, any quantifiable variable can be averaged. So, there is an average time. Perhaps we're more interested in the variance and the distribution of the variation in time to review and then partitioning that variance into explainable components.
