Dora the Explorer!
I was geocaching today, put my gps in my pocket. Took it out of my pocket and saw it had gone to the filter menu by itself. Went to select my next geocache, and nothing showed up. Reset the GPS and still nothing. It had 1500 caches loaded on it. Got home and did another reset, deleted caches, and readded through gsak. Then deleted again and readded through pocket query. Tried both the SD card and loading them on the unit. Now the unit only shows 1 cache called "Melbourne" 32km away from where I live. I cannot get any to show. Have tried to reset again, and it will freeze when you hit the delete. Did a hard reset using the power button, and the problem is still there. Right now cannot be used for geocaching. Also took batteries in and out and also removed SD card and put back in. Quote Link to comment
ecanderson
"it had gone to the filter menu" That's probably your clue. Be sure that filters weren't also accidentally set that are inhibiting the view of almost all of your caches. Quote Link to comment
StefandD
If it had been in the filter menu, perhaps a filter is set which prevents caches from showing up. Quote Link to comment
Dora the Explorer!
Wouldn't reset the settings take care of that? I did check filter settings and have deleted 2 filters that weren,t standard and made sure all were selected. Quote Link to comment
Red90
Okay... 1) Delete all GPX files. 2) Remove the card. 3) Start the unit up and let it complete a full boot. 4) Load a single cache GPX to internal memory and restart the unit. If it works, it is probably a bad GPX file you are using. Quote Link to comment
Dora the Explorer!
I contacted garmin support told them about the geocaches and the unit freezing up. They said if it was just the geocaches they didnt care, but due to the unit freezing up, they will replace it under warranty. Quote Link to comment
Red90
I can guarantee there is nothing wrong with the unit. It is a bad GPX entry. All Garmin handhelds have done this for years. Quote Link to comment
MaliBooBoo
Now the unit only shows 1 cache called "Melbourne" 32km away from where I live. I cannot get any to show. Every time I have had this happen to me, it was that parameters were set within the Quick Filter unbeknownst to me. Like ecanderson and StefandD have suggested, go over the Quick Filter settings (Type, Size, Difficulty, Terrain, and Status) with a fine tooth comb to ensure it is not set to exclude a bunch of caches. +Dora the Explorer!
I checked the filters a few times. I also deleted some. Anyway its on its way back to garmin. Quote Link to comment
