Problem transfering geocache coordinates

I am having zero luck downloading coordinates from geocache to my garmin 60csx. Have been doing it successfully for years until all my computers started running windows 10 and the latest windows explorer aka "Microsoft edge" Garmin is zero help and I don't find their support email to even function properly. Their "garmin express" knows that there is a 60csx hooked up and even tells me the serial number but tells me that I need communicator plugin which down loads and sets up and tells me "does not work with version of explorer that comes standard with new computers. I can download the gpx file to my computer but cannot find the gps using windows explorer to transfer it. Anyone else have these problems? Ideas?

the communicator plugins are built on a platform called NPAPI. It's outdated and insecure compared to current platforms for plugins. Thus, most of the browser makers are doing away with support for plugins that run on this older platform.

 

Ditch the plugin altogether and use pocket queries to load your caches in bulk with a single file.

 

The GPS should mount as a drive in windows (E: , F: , etc.) You shouldn't need any extra garmin software to connect and load your files.

It's not quite that simple with a 60csx, which uses its own format rather than direct support for a gpx file. When I had that device I used gsak to transfer the cache information to it - which can be done through macros or saving the file to the garmin (choosing the correct format). Easy gps and other programs can also be used - I would assume basecamp as well but have never used it.

 

If the OP really wants to use the communicator are several threads here that report how to get it to work, at least for now.

No need to go through all the hoops suggested. They seem to be centered around making modifications to the edge browser. Windows 10 comes with IE in addition to Edge. I just use IE whenever I communicate with Garmin. It will ask you to install the communicator plugin the first time. It works for me flawlessly. I have downloaded maps and updates as well as loading tracks to Connect with no problems.

60/76C model units have mass storage, but it's definitely an afterthought. (It was there on initial release.) Basically, it exposes the SD card as mass storage for tracks, custom POI tables, or files you want to carry around like a thumb drive. Reading or writing waypoints and routes is not supported. To transfer waypoints, you have to use a program like GPSBabel (and thus GSAK) that knows how to speak its proprietary Garmin USB protocol, which is basically their old serial protocol with a thin coat of USB paint.
