Need help with this travel bug

Hi!

I've recently started Geocaching and I've found a travel bug (see images) in my find #3. I wanted to log it immediately upon finding it, when I was still near the cache, but there was a problem with it. I need a tracking code, but it appears this travel bug has no tracking code. Like I said, I tried logging the bug while still at the cache, so when I realized there's something amiss, I reopened the cache to look for something resembling a tracking code. There was nothing inside. I looked up travel bugs to try and find the info I need, but nothing helped with this situation.

In the end I decided that someone had taken out only the tag containing the tracking code and left what you see in the photo. Am I wrong? Am I missing something? What can I do with it in this state?

For Geodog Oggy, the last person logged "Déposé Put Punta West (GC60XX0)". This is where I picked up the travel bug buddy. I did check if there's anything else in the cache, but don't remember Oggy. I'm still in the area, though, so I'll check it out again.

If that fails, I'll mail the owner.

Thanks! I'll let you guys know how this went. :)

P.S.

I was wondering how I can check which trackables are in a GC, and only now I saw that there's an inventory on the GC page when I checked out Put Punta West.

It might work out okay. While its travel buddy seems to have fallen off, the travel bug tag itself might still be traveling without his little buddy.

I thought so too, especially when cerberus1 found which travel bug the buddy might have belonged to, but it seems someone had separated the travel bug on purpose. Geodog Oggy (TB559VD) is still listed as being in GC60XX0 where I found its buddy and it's not there (I checked immediately and again a couple of days after). Moreover, when I was searching nearby caches to see if someone had simply moved Oggy as a practical joke, I've found that one of them was recently destroyed - with rocks beneath which the cache was hidden scattered around and the cache missing - which makes me think that someone is sabotaging geocaches in the area on purpose. Could be one of the thousands of tourists, or some locals, who knows?
