My central London cache 'Underground' GC38EQ3 has been one of my most sucessful in terms of finds, and although the container goes missing about once every 6 months thats part of the deal. However the online log posted today from an innocent cacher contains an image of what he found at the GZ that can only suggest extortion. I am going to text the master criminal now to find out where we stand.

 

Anyone have negotioating skills?

Visited again today, cache wasn't there but I found a ransom note...

 

Kind of surprised to see that the cache hasn't been temporarily disabled yet.

I'd archive it, wait a month or so, and set up a new one in a slightly different location. And maybe make it PM only.

 

You know, the whole "if you pay the ransom, they'll do it again and demand more" situation might occur.

Text them and offer to pay the ransome, suggest somewhere public for the handover like St James' park on the evening of June 15th, then we can all explain the error of their ways before we throw them in the lake .

Hey, they may have not found the Cache container itself, But they got close enough to find it's ransom note!!

 

I will let the so called "fake" found it log stand, for the above reason and also because I have already emailed the finder to let him know I would accept it.

Just move it. There's lot's of scope in and around the Square.

I know of one or two hiding spots used in the past.

Don't archive it with so many finds.

I'd call them from a non traceable phone number and....

If the hostage taker is a member, they'll see the new coordinates and possibly take the cache from its new location, too.

Tried moving this hide before, but I am not allowed to place it on the west side due to proximity to GC240NQ.
