+Pond Bird
I was wondering if theres a way to talk about group hunting with people from anywhere who may be interested in searching for geocaches. Quote Link to comment
+wimseyguy
Is there a local forum or Facebook group? That would be the best place to organize that kind of activity. Quote Link to comment
+niraD
Some of the group trips I've joined have been organized via local forums. Others have been organized via Facebook. And a few have used both. Quote Link to comment

The thing is some of the caches are far away from me, so others in the group either aren't interested (not convenient) or have already found them. Quote Link to comment

Find a group in that "far away" spot and ask if anyone'd be interested. Local, the best you can do is ask. Honestly, that's pretty basic... Sorry, kinda limited in ways to get folks to play with you. +NYPaddleCacher
Is there a local forum or Facebook group? That would be the best place to organize that kind of activity. I live about 25 miles from the OP and, no, there isn't a local forum of FB group for the local area. There may be one up in Rochester, about two hours away where there are a lot more geocachers and there used to be a mailing list mostly used be a few people in the Binghamton area (about an hour from here). That said, there is an occasional geo event and that's a good way to meet other local cachers and plan geocaching outings. Quote Link to comment

Yeah some of the caches are up in Rochester but nobody seems to want to make the finds in the area except for the NY Star. I can ask again, I sent you a message too. Quote Link to comment

Everyone has their own conflicts in schedules and conflicts in agendas. The Central NY group is mostly for geocachers in the Syracuse area which is about an hour away. The other two are for areas over 2 hours away. I suppose it's all relative though. Whenever there's a geocaching event here there are a few people from Rochester that will travel here for the event and I occasionally see groups of 4-10 cachers from Rochester come down for the day to find some of the local caches. It's kind of difficult, however, to play coordinated group hunts with cachers that far away though. Quote Link to comment
Keystone
As the discussion has moved specifically towards the OP's area, I'm moving this thread from the Geocaching Topics forum to the Northeast forum. Quote Link to comment

There is a new site for the Finger Lakes area that has a forum. www.flx-geocaching.com and also a FLX Geocachers Facebook group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/245169215675325/) Quote Link to comment
