+BerryCachey
Hi all, I am having uploading issues with my Magellan. When trying to "send to GPS", the box appears but it ates "Magellan Communicator not found." I followed the link to "Magellan Communicator plug-in for PC" and downloaded the MagellanCommunicator_108. I also went to the Magellan website and downloaded the current update eXplorist GC - Version 1.6. I have unplugged the GPS, restarted and still can't upload the cache. ARGGGHHH!! Has anyone had this problem? I have never had this happen before and quite like my GPS. If you can help it would be most appreciated. Berrycachey Quote Link to comment
+mpilchfamily
What browser are you using. I know Garmin Communicator doesn't work with chrome. Don't know if Magellan's communicator works on all browsers or not. Quote Link to comment

Berrycachey I was having this same issue, it turned out to be the USB cable I was using. Tried a different cable and it worked fine Quote Link to comment

+Team Kay
Hi, I just purchased a Magellan eXplorist 610 (Europe) and am having major problems trying to get the communicator (1.13.0.17) to work. Whenever I try to 'Send to my GPS' I get a pop up with two buttons saying 'Check Device' and 'Download'. I have already downloaded the communicator, installed and enabled it in both browers but it still won't work. I have tried it with Firefox 5 and IE 8, in both XP Pro and Windows 7. I've even logged on to the Magellan site and followed their instructions to get it working but still no success. I emailed the Magellan support desk but so far have had no response, even after telling them I will probably return the device and opt for a Garmin. At the moment I can get caches onto the device by drag and drop using Explorer but I'd rather have the device working as I expect. Other than this issue I think this is an awesome GPS for cacheing and am otherwise satisfied with it in every way. Can anyone offer any further advice to resolve this issue or should I just chuck the thing in the local canal :-( Thanks. Edited August 18, 2011 by Team Kay Quote Link to comment
+mpilchfamily
Everyone seems to have problems with Magellan's communicator. But i always wonder why PMs even bother trying to get it to work. Using the Send to my GPS button only gives you the basic cords, name and GC#. Worste yet your only getting the caches one at a time. As a PM you have access to Pocket queries. They allow you to download up to 1000 caches in one shot. You are able to be very particular about the caches the search produces. Best of all it includes all the paperless data so you have it right there on your unit. You get the full cache description, hints, and recent logs. Once you download the PQ all you have to do is unzip the file which will give you 2 .gpx files. One has all the caches on it the other gives you the additional waypoints for the caches. Such as parking cords, trail heads, and any other waypoint relating to the cache. All you have to do is plug your unit into your PC. It will be seen as an external hard drive. Open it up and navigate to the Geacaching folder and drop the Geocaches in that folder. The go to the Waypoints folder and drop the other file in there. Even if you weren't a PM there is a better way to get a bunch of caches installed onto the unit without the need of the communicator software and doing it one cache at a time. Quote Link to comment
+Minecrafthunters
Hello. I was using Chrome, switched to Internet 10 and it worked no problem Quote Link to comment
+M. Hawkins
I use a Mac. Geocaching.com maps no longer work with the newest Safari version i can get with my operating system (Mac OSX 10.6.8). Can't zoom in or out and still click on cache icons to view data or download. I then updated my browser to google Chrome. The map issue is fixed, however, google chrome does not allow any/many/most plugins (like magellan communicator). I can't download caches now. I'm wondering about Firefox since internet explorer isn't an option for me. I think the answer to your problem lies in the internet browser. Hope that helps. M. Hawkins Quote Link to comment
+christmas6
I have been working on this for 3 days and can't get it to work. I have tried Chrome, EI, and Firefox. I'm gonna throw it against the wall and take it back. I clearly should stick to letterboxing! Quote Link to comment
themonkeycasher
Ye that has happened to me too. I redownloaded, used several different browsers but still nothing. My gps is only about 1-year-old Quote Link to comment
themonkeycasher
You can use Safari. That worked for me. or you can download GPX file. But you can't download GPX file with basic membership. Quote Link to comment
