Magellan eXplorist GC (Need Help!)

Recommended Posts

Is there anyone that can help me please?

One of my darling scouts decided to 'accidentally' erase all of the data from our GPS Unit. I have tried speaking with Magellan but with no assistance or help. I have downloaded the latest software for the unit trying to re-install it, but it gets so far and then it says "no eXplorist found". Reading other posts on here, it would appear that I need to get a mirror image of the files that get uploaded when the software is installed.

Is there anyone out there that would be willing to 'ZIP' up their install files for the eXplorist GC and share them with me.

Thanks in advance

Dave

Dangerous Dave,

Have you tried resetting your GPS and the downloading your the newest upgrade 2.5? I could not get my pc to recognize GPS (I have the Magellan Explorist GC) and I did a live chat with Magellan and what they had me do was take out batteries plug in cable to pc and turn on the gps holding the joystick up, menu key and power button at the same time. This will give you a screen with options at the top instead of the normal connected to pc screen, once you get this screen your my pc allowed the update to be installed. It will also re install the 999 or so caches that you had on it when you first purchased the gps. You do have to have version 1.7 for pc or version 1.8 for mac on the gps in order to upgrade to the 2.5. If you have do not have that upgrade you can do it also the same way. Good luck Fellow Scouter!!
