vehicle gps question

Hi guys can any one tell me what type (if any) of vehicle gps will accept user entered waypoints. It is not for geocaching but i guess the same concept is required

Just for the portable gps units like nuvi or tomtom etc. I want to be able to load waypoint locations into them from a computer

For my Garmin nuvi, I used Garmin's POI Loader. It took some getting used to, but it did the job.

 

For Geocaching, I now use an eTrax10 which I load from BaseCamp (also free from Garmin). BaseCamp can load the nuvi with waypoints, but I saw some weird stuff happen when I tried to load Geocaches into it (maybe I did something wrong, I'm not sure).

Then as I stated all Garmins will do that, and I suspect all tomtoms also although I've never owned one.

Yes, those will as well. They're loaded as user created POI files. The macro I created for GSAK that does all of the heavy lifting for each week's big caching run also automatically creates my *.ov2 POI files for my TomTom, though there are many other tools to create those files as well.

You can use Basecamp to load waypoints into a Nuvi as well. They'll end up in your favorites. Or you can enter the coordinates directly into the Nuvi.
