+Bubbles&Bonkers
Hey cachey peeps! I was wondering if I change my user name will my friends list also see that? There's one person I don't especially want to know. Thanks! Quote Link to comment
+narcissa
I think all of your logs will show your new name. If you're really trying to hide from someone, it might be better to start a new account. Quote Link to comment
+The_Incredibles_
I don't think the system will send them an email if you change your name. However, if they look on their friends list, they will see the new name. Best to delete them from your friends list. Or if it's a more serious situation, start a brand new account with a new name. Pup Patrol
Hey cachey peeps! I was wondering if I change my user name will my friends list also see that? There's one person I don't especially want to know. Thanks! If you don't want them to know, then you shouldn't have a problem removing them from your "friends" list prior to changing your username. (Doesn't sound like someone that should be on your "friends" list, though.) Help Center → My Account → My Account and Profile → Username Change 3.14. Username Change http://support.Groundspeak.com/index.php?pg=kb.page&id=115 If you want to change your username, you can do this yourself by going to Manage Your Profile: http://www.geocaching.com/account/editprofile.aspx Remember, this is the name that will represent you throughout all Groundspeak websites. Note: occasionally a username turns out to be unsuitable for a variety of reasons. Should this happen, we will ask you to choose a new username; we also reserve the right to change usernames ourselves when necessary. Username changes must comply with the Terms of Use. Usernames must be between 2 and 20 characters. If a username already exists and has ever been validated, or the username has been used in any way, then the username is not available. Once you process your new username, your site statistics will remain the same. The geocaches and Trackables that you own will still belong to you under that new name, and all your found geocaches and Trackables will show as found by your new username. You do not need to transfer them. You may, however, want to update the "Geocache Placed By" field on all caches that you have created. B. Quote Link to comment
+T.D.M.22
Just curious here- why? There is no privacy on the internet. And changing your name here does only that- change your name. Same account, same finds, same hidden caches. Any hidden caches will have your old name, but will still go to your profile. So in reality it will only do about as much good as logging a find on a cache- that is to say even though you did something it won't solve/stop the problem. Quote Link to comment
+narcissa
I don't know what is actually happening, but if someone is using the geocaching website to bother you, you should write to to Groundspeak to let them know. Quote Link to comment
+Bubbles&Bonkers
Thanks for all of your insight and help!! You have definitely answered my question. It's a private thing so I don't really want to get into it. Thanks again!!! Quote Link to comment

Thanks again!!! It's The Geocaching Vlogger, isn't it? Yes, remove them from your friends list first, of course. But your name changes throughout the site. (Did it myself in 2010 or so). If they see some of your old logs on caches, they'll probably figure it out pretty quickly. Quote Link to comment
