+One-O-7
For my "18" finds... I have been using my iPhone 5 with the Google Maps app to get to a waypoint and then the Geocache.com app to locate the cache location. So far I have not adventured too far, or tried to find high difficult caches. My question is: Can I mark my car with either of these apps? I can't figure out if it is possible? I think I will invest on a GPS soon anyway, but I would like to know for now while I am still using the iPhone. Thank you. Quote Link to comment
+wmpastor
You mean set a waypoint for your parked car? That's a common strategy with long hikes or huge parking lots. An iPhone user will chime in. Another way to navigate that was suggested a couple of months ago was to get to the latitude and then go across to the longitude. Do not try this, even if you have an ATV! Quote Link to comment
+larkspeed
https://itunes.apple.com/IR/app/id338326812?mt=8 There you go cheap and elegant solution. Drop a pin when you park and it will direct you back to your car when you are ready. Can't speak for the functionality because I do not use an iphone but I have something similar on my android device and it works fine. Quote Link to comment

It's automatic now in Google Now. Guess I don't really understand why it's really important though. Only time I've ever had trouble remembering my spot is when I'm either in the middle of a giant parking lot like at a mall or when I've parked at the airport and left my car there for a day or more. Is remembering where you parked really an ongoing concern for people? Quote Link to comment

It's nice to have a general "back to the road" location/waymark/pin for when you are a mile or more away on a winding trail, or series of crossed trails. In those situations, "where's my car?" is handy to know. Quote Link to comment
+One-O-7
DUDE! Where is my car? Wasn't there a movie named that?? Anyway, thank you for the replies. I am going to get that iCar app for now. Thanks larkspeed Edited August 28, 2014 by One-O-7 Quote Link to comment
+Chief301
If you're currently navigating to a cache, select the Map view....in the upper right hand corner there's a button with three dots on it. Tap that to bring up the Additional Waypoints function. Select Current Location. A little red flag will appear on the map at your current location. Once you've found the cache, tap the flag and select Set As Target This is also how you'd add a waypoint for the next stage of a Multi. Quote Link to comment

If you've parked, headed into bush for 20 caches, it's not fun to figure out which one marked your car if you forgot. Edited August 29, 2014 by Team Pixos Quote Link to comment
+GeoLog81
Well, usually you park near the street, not middle in the bush? But a big parking can be an issue. Quote Link to comment

Came in handy when I was in Pittsburgh the other day (not geocaching), parked the car in a garage and didn't make a good mental note of where it was. But google knew. Quote Link to comment
