dennerlyfamily
Hi all maybe someone can help - we are on our hols and have just spent an enjoyable days caching with our dakota 20 - on returning home we tried to turn it on to add some more caches and it just wont boot up the initial screen turns on then when it tries to boot up the system the screen reduces and the unit turns off. It is just over ( and I mean just over) 1 year old and we just cant believe our bad luck... any ideas anyone?? Quote Link to comment
+splashy
If you're 'lucky' it's the Sd card, take it out and try to start the Dakota. Else the only thing I can think about whitout a computer is a hard reset. Else http://garmindakota.wikispaces.com/Miscellaneous Edited August 18, 2014 by splashy Quote Link to comment
+GrateBear
I had the same thing happen to mine, but it was close to 3 years old. It would start, lines would appear on the screen, then turn off. I initially used it as an excuse to buy a new GPS. But, after getting the new one, decided to call Garmin customer support. The person led me through the hard reset process. It took 3 or 4 tries, but it eventually started up and has been working fine for well over a year now. The only thing I lost was the total miles I had traveled with it. Quote Link to comment
