There are a lot of cachers in GA. I live in Macon. We also have a few great caching groups. The Georgia Geocachers Association is the oldest caching group. The Central Georgia Geocachers formed a couple of years ago. The Chattahooche Valley Cachers are based out of Columbus. These are just a few of the great organizations through out the state. Most of them you would need to attend a meeting in order to become a memeber. If you are interested, the GGA will be having an Event this Saturday at Unicoi State Park from 2-4.

I am in the Dahlonega area and a newbie. Also I haven't joined any group yet.

I have found a few with my girls and some by myself.

I am amazed at the number of geocaches out there. This gives me a chance to go, do, and see things that would have escaped me had I not started Geocaching.

Hey Super Nate, are you ready to become a Ga. resident

with this stupid land grab attempt? :):grin:

I was starting to see visions of changing our license tags to da big peach......but since the head-honchos discovered the Atlantic Ocean I don't see my humble abode belonging to Georgia anytime soon.

Hey Burl, I am from Dahlonega and have just started geo-caching. My kids think this is like treasure hunting and love this. I work and live at Hidden Lake, send an email if you want to try a joint cache sometime.

Hey is there anybody from georgia in here???

Columbus, GA here.

My son, Armynate, just got transferred from Fort Irwin, Ca. to Fort Benning in Georgia so I would appreciate the kind folks in Georgia welcoming him to your fine state and anyone in the area of Fort Benning, showing how Georgia caching is done. Fort Irwin is in the desert so if you see sand and then a pile of rocks then you have found the cache. I'm sure Georgia caching is just a tad bit different. Thanks to all who give him a hand.

Time to stir the pot. Perhaps I have overestimated the southern hospitality I was expecting from the folks in Georgia. Being from the other coast, maybe this isn't the south but the east. I know California folks have a bad rep as not being too friendly but the Geocaching community in San Diego is the best around and always willing to show a stranger some fine caching.

Thanks Richardgo, my faith in Georgia has been restored. Hopefully he will take you up on your kind offer and have a wonderful time. Thanks again.
