+Totem Clan
I've been trying to put a name on my ignore list for two days now and everytime I try I get this error. There appears to be an error with the database. If you are seeing this page, it means there was a problem communicating with our database. Sometimes this error is temporary and will go away when you refresh the page. Sometimes the error will need to be fixed by an administrator before the site will become accessible again. You can try to refresh the page by clicking here I'm I doing it wrong or is it down for now? Quote Link to comment
+dfx
I just used it now (bringing my ignore list up to a whopping 21 entries) and it worked just fine. Quote Link to comment

+Totem Clan
I even went back and read the 'help' section on how to do it. It keeps giving me the same message. How can I get some help with this? Quote Link to comment

Maybe it's the browser you're using. Try something else - if you're using IE, try Firefox or Google Chrome. Quote Link to comment
+Lil Devil
Just to be clear here, you're not talking about ignoring a cache, but rather ignoring a user here in the forums using this page, right? Whoops. I guess so. Just after I typed that above, I typed in a username into the box and clicked Save Changes and got the same message you quoted. Houston, we have a problem. Edit to add: If I click on "Manage Ignored Users" to the left, then try again, it works properly. Weird. Now to see if I can unignore Totem Clan... +Totem Clan
Oh well. I'll just wait and try again in a day or two. Quote Link to comment
+Lil Devil
Did you notice the "edit" I added to my previous post? It works (for me) when I click "Manage Ignored Users" to get to this page. Subtle. Quote Link to comment

+TheWeatherWarrior
I'm trying to ignore a couple of folks. One is a Mod, so that may not be possible. The other I get past the database error, but when I place the username in, and submit it, it comes back with user not found. It is weird because when I type in the user's name, it comes up in the list of similar names, I've tried both clicking on the name when shown and manually typing the entire name. I'm wondering though....because they have an exclamation point "!" that it might be screwing the process up. Anyone give any light if that might be an issue, or if there is just no way to block anymore. I know they closed down the access to the member list (members tab). Quote Link to comment

I don't have a link, but I'm 99% certain there was a thread in the past where "special characters" in a username would not allow you to ignore that poster. By the way, not that anyone knows who you're talking about now. I ignored a mod a few years ago, when they had the "old" forum software. This is no big deal, that mod hasn't shown their face around here in years. However, I just tried it, and you can't do it anymore. Quote Link to comment
+narcissa
Really shocked to discover that this is still an issue in this forum. Sometimes using that ignore feature is the best/only way to deal with some of the bad eggs, but a stupid character in their name means we're forever doomed to see their inanity against our wishes. Lame. Quote Link to comment
+cerberus1
Had one on there from last Summer , so knew it (at one time...) worked. I just tried it, took two attempts. Used the link from Lil Devil. Worked. Luckily it removed as well. Okay, playin' a bit, seems some it does, others not. (?) Couldn't get any with & or . in their name. I think this feature has tremendous value, but this bug essentially allows some people to circumvent it. That's ridiculous. Quote Link to comment
+narcissa
Bumping this because it's still a source of frustration. Users should not be able to circumvent this important feature by having special characters in their name. Quote Link to comment
Moun10Bike
Unfortunately, we're not going to be able to fix this without making a significant upgrade to the forum software. That's not in the cards for the near- to mid-future as it is not an insignificant task to integrate third-party forum software with our account system. Quote Link to comment
+narcissa
That's very disappointing, especially given the way things are going in the forum lately. Quote Link to comment
+niraD
Would it be possible to fix the basic "Ignored Users" feature? I just tried ignoring an account with no special characters in it, just alphanumeric characters. I got the same error: forums.Groundspeak.com Driver Error There appears to be an error with the database. If you are seeing this page, it means there was a problem communicating with our database.
