Image for Travelbug does not show up

Hello,

I tried to upload a image for a travelbug and also ticked the checkbox for using it as pic for the TB. But the image isn't shown. When I click on it to get the large view, I get a message saying: "The requested content cannot be loaded."

I also tried to upload the image without ticking the checkbox with same result.

Opening the URL for the image http://imgcdn.geocaching.com/track/large/3a81f062-6c1a-408b-9c9d-7ea2a423c141.jpg gets an error. If I try it without the "large", then I get the image.

This ist the URL to the TB: http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.aspx?guid=de3e755c-9cea-494b-819e-3c37145c3829 (the picture there is embedded from an external source)

The picture should match the conditions for being uploaded without any problems.

So, I am sure I am doing something wrong. But sadly I am not able to figure it out.

Any help ?

Thanks in advance!

It appears that there is something about that image that causes our image handler to fail to create the "large" size for it. Other versions generate correctly (the "square", "poster", and "thumb" sizes). I noticed that the image is especially tall and thin, so I tried padding the width with some extra pixels and this seemed to work: http://imgcdn.geocaching.com/cache/d5d57987-abff-46cc-86dd-fe7a71543d42.jpg?rnd=0.1414846

Thanks for the hints! I will try to adjust the size / dimensions of the image then.

Edit: I tried different sizes and different paddings. Also the size of the image of Moun10Bike. With no luck. Then I tried the image, Moun10Bike provided and it worked. Weird! So there must be something else beside the dimensions maybe.

I used the padded image from Moun10Bike now, hopefully this is ok. But will further investigate this issue soon.

Here's another one. It looks like the URL is getting malformed somehow?

This log: http://coord.info/GLF8PXFA

Has this link:

http://img.geocaching.com/cache/log/large/753256d4-8ec9-41cb-9cb5-5e97c540a2dd.jpg

which when clicked on gives:

500 - Internal server error.

There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed.

If you take /large out of the URL it works:

http://img.geocaching.com/cache/log/753256d4-8ec9-41cb-9cb5-5e97c540a2dd.jpg

I tried with my images also a few dimensions but with no luck. Since frinklabs' picture seems to have quite usual dimensions I don't think that the problem lies there. But sadly I do not have any other idea.

I don't think its dimensions either. The examples I have shown as failures are mixed in with successful postings.

It is a webcam cache -- both the working and failed images come from the same place and are of the same dimensions.

Opening the URL for the image http://imgcdn.geocac...ea2a423c141.jpg gets an error. If I try it without the "large", then I get the image.

Avast flags that first image http://imgcdn.geocaching.com/track/large/74d6b5dd-f81c-41d5-ad7d-a8525e6e6ea0.jpg from the gc.com page http://www.geocaching.com/track/details.aspx?guid=de3e755c-9cea-494b-819e-3c37145c3829 which labeled only with an underscore as a problem! Some antivirus software will believe that this first "_" *.jpg image on the page contains JPG:MS04-028 [Expl], which is to say, it believes that loading that file may create a buffer overflow issue identified by Microsoft (MS04-028) eons ago. My guess is that the jpg file in question is malformed in some way and is therefore causing the flagging of this image. If it belongs there at all, consider loading and resaving it with another image tool and re-uploading it to your cache page.
