Non-members in LogBook

If someone finds the cache, they can sign it. Don't have to be a member, don't even have to be looking for the cache.

I've found a couple caches that were signed by someone who accidently found the thing, and only knew what it was because of the cache note.

I was out on a trail one day to find a few caches. I stopped to rest for a few minutes, before going off trail a bit to find a cache. While sitting there, a couple of mothers with five kids and two dogs came along. They looked at me strange, so I explained what I was doing. One mother told the kids "oh that's what you're aunt does", and the kids wanted to help. They all had a blast looking, and one of them found it first. Then they all wanted to sign the log. Great day, lots of fun, and the kids had a blast. I think it meant a lot to them to be able to sign it after we found it.

What do you think about people who are not registered GC member signingin the logbooks? Is it OK?

ie. if I find some cache with my family, who are not registered, can they sign in the logbook?

Not a problem at all. Everybody sign!

Log books out on hiking trails are often signed by non-cacher hikers who found them accidentally.

My niece has found several of our caches and signed them. Mostly because I mentioned I had one at a location and when she is there she calls me and asks for directions. I lead her to it over the phone and her and her boyfriend sign it. They are not members here but enjoy the fun of the find just as much as any of us.

Sure, they can sign the log. I've taken a lot of people geocaching, and most of them did not have a geocaching.com account. Some wanted to sign the log. Some didn't. And some have gone on to create a geocaching.com account after several geocaching trips with me, and then I helped them backlog their past finds with me.
