Hello, im a recently new member of this worldwide geocache craze! i
found
my first one just yesterday with my brother! it was awesome fun!

though ive had some ideas for setting a cache of my own, i did read all
of
the information on placing a new cache, but i was wondering if you
would
have to get permission for the town hall or whoever owns the land IF
the
cache is hidden within a public park. see what i wanted to do was do a
multi cache in where they would go from park to park around my town. to
enjoy them and possibly find a new place to go on weekends
though what i wanted to do was at the last cache location i would have
a
riddle which would lead them to the place i work and so i could
personally
give them the cache. (i know about caches that cant be in places that
sell
services or products) but i wanted to meet this fellow cacher.
so
basically can i do these things for my cache???
(if having to go to where i work [Mc.Donalds] doesnt fly, well then i can put it somewhere else.)

i also had another idea to where i would have to write somewhere with a
special type of "paint" that would only be seen when you hold a black
light up to it.

I know that other people will chime in here, so I will only comment on your first idea. I would make sure before placing such a cache that you have found all the caches in the area of the parks you want to use. Because of the 528 foot rule, you will need to be far enough away from each of them including puzzle caches.

Also find several more before you start hiding so you know what works for hides in your area. Some first time hiders have a problem reinventing the wheel. They make all the mistakes that other people have made. Make sure you know how to use your GPSr to mark a location well enough that someone else can find it.

In terms of permission that may well vary with the park district. Some cities (like Colorado Springs) have a policy of no caches period. Some others (like Seattle) have a policy of basically they can't control it so they live with it. In a sensitive park you may want to talk to someone in charge to make sure you don't bring too many visitors to an area that can't handle them. Most of the time the park managers want the caches there because they bring people in that wouldn't ordinarily come to the park and that is good for the parks.

Hi! Welcome to Geocaching.

I would simply suggest finding about a dozen or so caches before taking it upon yourself to hide one.

You will have a much better idea of how to go about it.

For questions concerning placement and permissions, of course, you always want to check the Groundspeack and geocaching.com guidleines for cache placement.

There are hundreds of beautiful parks across the country and around the world with some well-hidden caches.

If I could get the cache through the drive through I might do it, but if I had to actually go in ............well........maybe not.

So the final would be a micro but you could Super Size to an ammo box?

You have some good ideas, but rolling them all into one cache may be a bit much.

yeah, i guess i was getting a bit too abstract with the blacklight thing.
though you do have to admit, that would be pretty shnazzy doncha think?


as for the supersizing a micro to an ammo can, well, if people would actually take up my cache challenge....maybe, ya never know

I know that it doesn't matter that same has been approved before, but this has been done already. Aside from some others I've heard of locally, there was a cache in SC called Natural Phenomenon - Ultraviolet A that required the use of a black light to find. They even had a blacklight TB circulating so you didn't have to go buy one yourself. Unfortunately, it was in SC cemetary...

Some parks have rules requiring permission. Most city and neighborhood parks don't, at least in our area. I don't know of any that do. I have placed caches in 5 parks in our area and permission was not required for any of them.
