Geocaching Blogs Or Personal Websites?

Recommended Posts

I have a website in the late planning stages. I guess I should get on the stick and start construction.

It will contain a blog and a place to track my upcomming geocoins.

It will also be the focus point of my One Degree of Separation project that will be launched at my event to be held the night before GW4. ;)

I see some of you have your geocaching status bar in your blog/website. How do you get that on there?!!?

1- go to gc.com and go to your "my account" page

2- Half way down on the right side of the page look for the book "account options"

3- Third link on the box is "view my status bar"

There you can edit it with either the tradional style or Signal style and what it says under it. It will provide the HTML code also so you can use it on your blog.

For blogging, I just started a couple of weeks ago actually.

I'm still setting it up. No real bloggage posted there yet. Maybe I will start to spew some stuff to the blog page now that I have completed some updates to my web site.

Or should I say... web sites.

And who knows what I will do with this last one. I am still undecided. I only grabbed it last night about midnight, so for some it still may not resolve back to the page it is supposed to go to for a day or two. It already works for me. I'm sure it will be redirected elsewhere soon...

I know there are a lot of great personal websites out there where people share their own geocaching experiences and advice. Please feel free to contribute your own sites to the Geocacher-U Personal Website Links list HERE.

I've just put this section together so it doesn't have a lot of links yet. Please use the form at the bottom of the page to submit your own site...give a few details about it...and give me some time to get it updated.

Thanks,

Bret

We do a little of both. We have a geocaching website with a "Featured Cache" each week. On the page with the featured cache we have what is less of a blog and more like "Milestones",first cache, 25th cache etc...

There are four of us trying to keep it fresh. I have been caching for several years and one of the guys in our group is new to it. We started this site under "Tales From The Surface" as a group project.

We are looking for someone to write articles on geocaching, you know do's, don'ts, how to's. If your interested in submitting an interesting cache or writing an article check out the site!

I use a back page of my server for a google map that gives me the lat/lon coordinates. Just double click where you want coordinates. You can also place a reference marker on the page from the form at the top.

It is helpful to me if I am finding a cache in the woods. I put the cache coordinates in the form at the top, and then plan my route by picking coordinates of the trails.

I also bought the domain www.yapidka.com. It stands for a somewhat obscure acronym meaning 'Yet Another Park I Didn't Know About'. I set it up as a forum. It is really just for my own notes, but anyone else it welcome to use it if they want.
