Well I thought the same technique would be interesting to try on some other data, so made a layer:
UK Geocache Density (113kb KMZ file - opens in Google Earth)That plot's the number of caches in 10km x 10km blocks as bars on the Google Globe. (see the screenshot from the geograph version)
Unfortunately this isn't that exciting as no areas have particularly high density of caches, so created a variation that plots the number of logs to caches within each square:
