New bug?

If you choose French, Dutch of Catalan as your preferend language, you miss the second map on the cache listing. You see an empty frame.

see this post for an example: http://forums.groundspeak.com/GC/index.php...p;#entry4495508

Quote

If you use Printfriendly:
. the notes of the Additional Waypoints are not printed anymore !!
. tabels are printed as text

It is indeed "printfriendly", but NOT USERfriendly...

It's the same for me, please put the notes back in de printout

Souvenirs are not just a lackey thing, or a USA thing. Due to fears of database overload, we haven't yet done retroactive awarding of them. That will come.

You only see USA souvenirs on my profile because that's all that I've qualified for.

I'd agree that more information on the souvenirs would be helpful, but the team behind them felt that the mystery would help spur desire for them.

Any idea when the retroactive awarding is going to take place? I think we are due about 5! ;)

Can you create a link or something on the souvenir's page so we can remember/learn where the heck we were awarded it ? I was in Tacoma and something popped up awarding me one, but I sure didn't see it in the industrial area I was in. Obviously I'm missing something in the concept here....

I would guess it has something to do with the Tacoma Arts Museum. Did you do a cache in or near there?

I think the retroactive stuff is suppose to be done on the 12th.

But we better stop talking about it because any other thread that mentions the thing that is not to be talked about is closed.

We don't have a date set yet for the retroactive awarding, as we have to make sure that we don't slam the database when we do it. State and province souvenirs are upcoming and they will be much more database intensive than the small-area souvenirs we have out so far. We want to make sure we have a reasonable process in place.

Also, as the owner of the Mission 9 APE cache, I'd appreciate it if everyone would spread the word asking cachers to exercise restraint and NOT relog the cache just to get the souvenir ahead of when they will retroactively get it anyway. I'm getting spammed! ;)

Lastly, feel free to speak about souvenirs. The previous thread was shut down because of a misunderstanding of which souvenirs are currently available and which ones are upcoming.

It would be nice, if they would at least give a hint, what else might be added for those souvenirs.
Big cities? Mountain tops? Or just events?

And how will Souvenirs be created for "areas". The "world famous Guam Geocachers" would LOVE to create a Souvenirs for all those who have cached on our island paradise!

I assume this means that a comprehensive listing will not at least immediately become available.

Can I make a suggestion, if this hasn't already been done: leap day souvenir. You'll get by logging a cache on February 29th, so one will have a chance to get one every four years, the next time in 2012.

If "Your Language" = [Français, Nederlands, Català] then "Personal Cache Note" does NOT work.

Did someone test the new features? It seems GS counts on their geocachers to do the beta-testing... ;)

Is the inability to creat a downloadable query now related to these changes????????

GC is trying to set a record for number of cachers logging in today on 10/10/10. Expect slow response for the next two days.

Personally, I would find it more use to have 'Personal Cache Note' on the TB pages

If I pick up a TB which hasn't been logged into a cache yet it I add to the watchlist so I know when it getd dropped. Personal Note would be a handy place to make a note of the tracking code and when it was picked up etc

The souvenir mystery is apparent here in Scotland as well. I received one for the 10/10/10 event yesterday and a fellow cacher has one for the Mega in Perth where I haven't despite attending. Is this going to be updated in due course to each account?[color=#3333FF]

the souvenier shows up in your page. click on your name on gc.com (top right), then it's listed in quckview.

Can someone from Groundspeak check to see if the Spot widget is broken? KK7X seems to be having issues since the site update. We've tried to get him to ask GS directly when he asked the DeLorme forums, but he doesn't seem to be going in the right direction.

Please see this thread he posted in the tech forum.

Bug alert!

logs are "lost" in the background images on the cache pages, i.e., no white space for the log text to show up. The text is right on top of any background image that is on the page.

I'm not seeing this. Can you give a link to a cache where you see this?

Like I said in my previous post, I have already received one and have seen it in the quick view tab. That is not my problem. My problem is that my fellow cachers have one for attending the Mega in Scotland which I also attended and logged but I do not have it. The question is Is this going to be updated in due course to everyone elses accounts or am I going to have to copy my log for the mega, delete it, then repost it?

I still cannot upload pictures to my logs. Is there now a limit as to the size of the file? I thought it was unlimited since it got resized anyway.

Thanks!

I am having the same problem. I have been unable to upload pictures to my logs since before the 10/5 update. I've tried using Firefox, Google Chrome, and IE7. In each case, it uploads the image, but I'm redirected to http://www.geocachin...m/error/500.htm 'An Error Has Occured'. The picture neither shows up in my gallery nor the gallery for the cache.

Thanks.

Try resizing your picture.
I still can upload pictures, just last night it was possible.
But then, I always resize them to 800x600 pixels.

I am so glad it isn't just me! I tried resizing and uploading using both IE and Firefox, but no go. I never had to resize before. Also, a photo that did make it, I had rotated, but it was on its side. I wasn't able to rotate it using the edit function. I was blaming my ineptness (is that a word?) on the computer...... Anyways, I can always try again - and again! I know it'll be sorted soon, if it hasn't been already.

Has anyone else noticed this ??
First noticed this evening-(was there yesterday)the cache icon has disapeared from the lower map on all cache pages.
However it still shows up in the "print" pages (no logs, 5 logs, etc).

While trying to retrieve a geocoin activation code, I receive the following message:

User have exceed hourly activation code requests limits. Please wait before making additonal request.

An Error Has Occurred
[We cannot retrieve an activation code for this trackable at this time.]

Reasons:*User have exceed hourly activation code requests limits. Please wait before making additonal request.

This is the first activation code I've tried to retrieve in a couple of days. I was able to retrieve a ton (20+) of codes the other day without any problem.

I tried both Firefox and IE.

It is indeed "printfriendly", but NOT USERfriendly...

:D

If you solve this "bug", please bring back the "Show Hidden Waypoints by default" too.

Notes and hidden Wp's are used in a lot of cache listing and contains important information to find WP's/stash.

C'mon. You've been around long enough to know that Groundspeak almost never comments on reported bugs. They do note them, however, and someday in one of their monthly site updates maybe they'll get fixed. You just have to be patient.

Does anyone have a status and investigating this bugs, please?

C'mon. You've been around long enough to know that Groundspeak almost never comments on reported bugs. They do note them, however, and someday in one of their monthly site updates maybe they'll get fixed. You just have to be patient.

I can now not post a log from my iPone. It says 'logs can not be posted...please try later'. Is this due to the web site update?

While trying to retrieve a geocoin activation code, I receive the following message:

User have exceed hourly activation code requests limits. Please wait before making additonal request.

An Error Has Occurred
[We cannot retrieve an activation code for this trackable at this time.]

Reasons:*User have exceed hourly activation code requests limits. Please wait before making additonal request.

This is the first activation code I've tried to retrieve in a couple of days. I was able to retrieve a ton (20+) of codes the other day without any problem.

I tried both Firefox and IE.

A week later and I'm still having this problem:

Who can I contact at Groundspeak regarding this?

I still cannot upload pictures to my logs. Is there now a limit as to the size of the file? I thought it was unlimited since it got resized anyway.

Thanks!

I am having the same problem. I have been unable to upload pictures to my logs since before the 10/5 update. I've tried using Firefox, Google Chrome, and IE7. In each case, it uploads the image, but I'm redirected to http://www.geocachin...m/error/500.htm 'An Error Has Occured'. The picture neither shows up in my gallery nor the gallery for the cache.

Thanks.

Oh good I guess it isn't me.. Just tried to upload photos to a cache log and got the error message. Maybe I'll get back to it when they fix it.

I mentioned this is Feedback, and got an email today - there is an issue and they are trying to fix it.

My geocaching page suddenly ceased to work with firefox anymore. I didn't change my computer or firefox in the last days either.

I noticed last night when I clicked decrypt hint and it kept sending me tot he top of the page and never decrypting the hints. Then today I tried to do a search by zip code. I clicked the "go" button and absolutely nothing happens.

That sounds like JavaScript is disabled. Have you installed NoScript, or disabled JavaScript altogether, or changed your NoScript settings?

I haven't disabled my javascript that I am aware of and I didn't install noscript or anything like that. This is really frustrating because I don't want to use IE for geocaching (it works on there just fine).

Edit to add that I just checked and javascript is indeed enabled.

Thank you! I was suffering a brain freeze and couldn't drag the "-itude" out of the dark recesses. Kinda like my caching yesterday.....

Uninstall Firefox
Download the latest version, (3.6.11)
Install it
Go have fun Geocaching.

Has anyone else noticed this ??
First noticed this evening-(was there yesterday)the cache icon has disapeared from the lower map on all cache pages.
However it still shows up in the "print" pages (no logs, 5 logs, etc).

Don't know why, but this problem seems to have fixed itself suddenly about an hour ago. :anibad:

Today I got a Delaware state souvenir, which is nice, but I've not been within 500 miles of Delaware in my life!
When I click on it, I get a error:
"You have entered an incorrect value in the querystring"

Strange things afoot!

BTW I'm in Australia and have never cached outside of Australia.
