Your fiancé is a very wise man. My Landcruiser was the only car I have ever loved.

Two thoughts.

First, loving the dog that wanders onto the course.

Second, a few of those jumps looked like real killers. Miss the jump and you're hitting the other ramp edge on to what looks like some real killer wood boards.

But a cool video nonetheless.

Turn your speakers up for this one.

There was no CGI here. I think it was two takes merged together. Towards the end, the car is perfectly balanced, till the rear hatch is closed.

Everything (save a few items) were actual Honda Accord parts. From pre production models, too.

This gets discussed on the Mythbusters forum regularly. Actually it was over 600 takes IIRC, but no CGI or other special effects.

Nicely done! The rider did a nice job of memorizing the course and keeping a clean line.
The dog!!! I've been there a few times, that'll scare the bejeezzus out of you.

What gets me about this one is the guy is wearing a pinstripe suit!?!
the one jump where he goes sideways off a ledge onto a ramp...that was just wild!

I still couldn't stick with it all the way, but I did watch about half. I couldn't do that, but I've sure seen much more incredible stuff done on the bicycle. But anyway, thanks for the donut. Or doughnut.

I suspect if you haven't done it or something like it it is difficult to appreciate how very hard and fast that course was. A lot of "standard" (read that mountainside) downhillers would have face planted somewhere along that course.

That was a great landing.

Order of landings, from worst to best...

Bad landing- you get carried away from the airplane, and/or the airplane doesn't fly again.

Good landing- you walk away from the airplane under your own power.

Great landing- you walk away from the airplane under your own power and they can use the airplane again. (And for the record, that Airbus, while it won't fly again, was repairable according to reports that I have read.)

This flight was an example of two pilots earning every penny they were ever paid, and earning it all in the space of about 4 minutes.

Thanks, I am planning some cache hides on a hill near me. I needed somewhere to point people when they moan about the terrain being a 2! Now I know. (There are quite a few caches around there.)

I saw the launch live this morning via internet. I hadn't seen a launch in quite some time.
I remember watching Gemini missions on a B&W Zenith back in the day.

That's extraordinary. I watched it thinking, "This has got to be an April Fool wind-up..."

But no, it seems these things really exist.

Definitely worth a "Wow". B)

You can buy one of these you know... Makerbot Thing-o-matic

I believe they run occasional sales, I saw this listed for as low as $699 US. Now if I could just think of a use for the thing, I'd get one.

The company has extra resin mixtures to make the items extra strong, or fire resistant. I see a use for it in the parts industries, mechanical parts that are no longer being made... old cars, aircraft, other machines. Maybe in the future part manufacturers can 3D scan a part and put the scan in a database. When the part becomes obsolete, this company can pay to access the database to make the part for people who need it... at a higher cost.. of course...

3D printing has actually been around for quite some time. But the quality has been continually improved. What they first produced was fine for prototyping or model making, but this looks far superior, and of course, much higher resolution.
