Greetings. If there is a long thread on this, I apologize. I didn't see one searching.

Once I have a cartridge, what do I need to do to post it. If I upload the cartridge to Wherigo.com, is it immediately public. How does this mesh with publishing a cache on geocaching.com? How do I test the unlock logic on Wherigo.com before publishing the cache for everyone?

Can someone give me a step-by-step?

thanks!

When you upload the cartridge to Wherigo.com, it is only public if you check the box "Make this cartridge available in the directory" on the page where you edit your cartridge's details.

Wherigo.com and geocaching.com are only linked by your Groundspeak account (that is, the one you use to log into Wherigo.com and geocaching.com). Other than that, there is no direct link between the two sites. This means whatever happens to your Wherigo cache listing (publish, disable, and archive) does not affect the cartridge listing on Wherigo.com. You will have to provide a link to your cartridge on your Wherigo cache listing page. Some people put the link under the "related web page" section or in the cache listing's write-up. Either way is fine. Just make sure you list the cartridge before the geocache listing is published.

As for unlocking the cartridge on Wherigo.com, that's a little odd at the moment. You can do it one of two ways, but I suggest both. The first is marking the cartridge as complete. It depends which builder application you're using if you want a how-to. This option, to my knowledge, only currently works with Garmin Players. However, when a Wherigo API is available, this will be used to unlock the cartridge automatically on Wherigo.com. This is why I suggest putting this in even if the majority of players are now using cell phones. The other way is to display an unlock code to the player. Search the forum for "Player.CompletionCode" and you'll find several posts. (It's not that I'm being lazy and not posting links or further information; it's that I was working on something and paused to respond, but now I have to get back to work. You'll probably hear about what I'm doing in due course.)

Perfect. That is what I needed to know.

Thank you!
