I'm new!! Is it possible to download more than one location at a time to my GPS. I'd like to "check" more than one location and have them download all at once instead of having to "check" each location separately.

When you do the search use the check boxes next to the caches you want then hit the Download Waypoints button at the bottom of the page. This will download the caches in a .loc file. Use a program like EasyGPS or GSAK to open that file and send the caches to your GPSr. This method allows you to download up to 20 caches at once. You can however load several .loc files into EasyGPS/GSAK at once and send them all to your GPSr at once.

Alternately if you wanted to download up to 1000 caches at once and have the descriptions, hints and recent logs available (with the use of a GPSr that is able to do paperless caching). You do this with Pocket Queries and a Premium Membership.

This is what I've been doing and it works nicely (the free version). When it's opened in EasyGPS with the free version, all the terrain and difficulties will be 1/1, so don't be fooled! I think the container and cached type will all be the same too. I haven't found a way to change it, unless you enter a comment stating what all's going on.

Good luck!

(The Premium Membership looks more and more tempting all the time. If I stick with this the way I want to (I slacked for a number of years and didn't cache at all) then I'll probably spring for it)

We are new to this and can't seem to locate EasyGPS to download. Where to we find this program in the system?

Here is a page on the Geocaching.com site that has a link to the EasyGPS site, as well as many other "Geocaching Software" pages.

EasyGPS is basically a "waypoint manager" and there are many other waypoint managers available. Essentially, a waypoint manager allows you to download waypoint information (ecapsulated using one of several different formats) into the application. Once in the application you can "manage" the list of waypoints as necessary, and then using the application, send the list of waypoints to your GPS (it can also be used to "receive" waypoints on your GPS).

As was previously mentioned, when you download waypoints into EasyGPS as .loc files the difficulty/terrain ratings will show up as 1/1. That's simply because a .loc file does not contain difficulty/terrain information for a cache. To get that, you need to get the waypoint information using a .gpx file (which requires premium membership).
