Also if any on this list are no longer in place please let me know. Nice list. Very slight modification / technicality for the Bridges & Arches of Central Park info - the trackable coins are actually available to cache finders in exchange for donations to the Central Park Conservancy. The nontrackable gift coin is usually in the final container (we've been relying on the honor system for those, and to date geocachers have proven that faith well placed).

Alabama:

Two series I know of that are live right now, the Decatur Geocaching Passport (unspecified prize awarded) and the Civil War Geocaching Passport (coin awarded). Details and passports here.

Alabama State Parks has a series in the works that will launch in April and will have a trackable geocoin for series finishers, but it's not live yet. I posted about it here.

Excellent list. Fine work. Mostly on the East Coast, as I remember saying when someone started a thread about them once. A minor correction, and I don't know how you want to approach it, but 1/5th of Seaway Trail Geocaches are actually in NW Pa., not in New York.

As to Mr. Yuck's question, I knew before typing this list that part of it was in Pennsylvania but chose to put it with New York since the majority of the trail falls in that state. If people are interested in the trail they can click on the attached link and see that a few are in Pennsylvania, but not far from New York. OK everyone please keep the active trail information coming! I would love to be able to add some more for Canada!

I looked at the link you posted. It sounds like it may be a geotrail, but makes no mention of any prize for completing the series. The list compiled in this thread are all geotrails (group/state sponsored series of caches) which reward finders with some sort of prize for finding x number of caches. Generally these prizes are geocoins, but other prizes are also listed. So I guess what I'm asking of you is, do they give you some sort of prize for completing this program?

I posted about some thing similar in the NW forum, but the Idaho State BLM has a challenge (thought they don't call it that). It is not a trail but you get prizes from visiting different caches around that state.

I completed the 2011 challenge. I got a nice certificate and a Pathtag.

Excellent thread. We did part of the Allegheny and Great Lake Seaway Trail and loved them. So many ammo cans found in such great spots. We will use this list when we travel in the future.

They don't add the caches until the first day of the event, which in my link say's will be June 23. The caches remain active indefinitely, however you only get a coin until they run out (usually there are several hundred coins). You have to find 30 caches (10 each in the 3 cities). But the link to the event is all that you can get right now. I did the 2011 event which was 12 caches I believe with a Geocoin for finding at least 10 of them.

Perhaps you could maintain the list somewhere like Cacheopedia where you can continue to edit it. Another possibility would be to use a bookmark list, including one cache for each series in the bookmark list, with links to the corresponding series page in the comments for each cache.
