Hello,

My name is Mathew Erickson and I am a counselor at a New Mexico summer camp for children ages 7-17 who have had cancer. It has recently been decided that we are going to have a Geocaching "class" at our next event. I have planned out mostly everything, but since I will be busy doing other things I can't teach the kids. So, I am looking for a person that is interested in volunteering for this wonderful event.

The camp, called Camp Enchantment, is run by the American Cancer Society. It is a week long event around Memorial Day that will be held in the Manzano Mountains, but if you couldn't make it all the days the Geocaching would only be done three days.

If you have other questions or comments please feel free to contact me through this website or through my e-mail below.

Thanks,

Mathew Erickson

UPDATE

As of April 18 I'm still trying to find a volunteer that would be willing to help out with this great cause. The event is May 27-June 2, but there is also staff training on May 25 & 26. I can promise you that it is completely worth it to take the time off from work to help bring joy to children who have been through so much in such a short time. Some of the children are off treatment, some are still going through this difficult time, but they all just want to feel like a normal kid, if only for a week at a time.

If you are interested you can contact me through this website or my email at merick01@unm.edu

Unfortunately I travel out of town every year during this time, but I will reach out to a few people I know to see if I can help with this.
