Recently purchased a Garmin Oregon 450 and n otice the geocaches that I download show the nearest to me when caching, this can be confusing as the nearest is not always the next on a series but further on in the series, I can usualy get by with this, but just finished a series where this caused a right headache! the names of the caches were all too long to show 1-9 numbers, I have not the best of brains when it comes to stuff like this! Is there an easier way, I know I can write the cache names/numbers down beforehand but then this isnt paperless is it?I would apreciate any answers and advice in simple terms please!

Does the unit do 'Search By Name'

Or, write a list of the caches in order before you go out. So much for paper-less caching! :laughing:

The other way is to re-name the caches with something like GSAK to help with 'search by name' (You can shorten the name)

Once again the answer is GSAK. Load the PQ and go to Tools/Options and in the lower right box called "conversions" type.

If the series is named ThisCacheSeriesNameIsWayToLong-1

Enter

ThisCacheSeriesNameIsWayToLong=CachSer

the result will be

CachSer-1 and all following numbers.
