Ok, with 27 caches, I am a novice at this. So my question is quite simple. While doing my first multicache, I got stuck on the first clue itself. It said N +0.160 and W +1.932. So I did simple math addition and the new coordinates took me 2 miles away but there I could find nothing because the coordinates took me in somebody's garage!! Naturally I did something wrong because the cache is active as someone posted about it only a couple of days ago and since I could find the first stage, the other stages must be active and I could not figure it out! How do you add these coordinates? N 45° 41.164' W 111° 04.477' these were the original coordinates and I was supposed to add N + 0.164 and W +1.932 to them. Can anyone tell me about this?

The way I do it, comes out to N 45.41.328 and W 111 06.409. That shows being in a field between two ponds in Bozeman, MT, in some housing development. If that's not where you are, I'm wrong

First off :) you should have let us looked at your answer. That way we could explain how to do it better if you had not gotten it right. If I am correct in saying that its N+0.164' and W+1.932' then the answer should be N 45° 41.328' W 111° 06.409'. However, they may be dealing with seconds instead. I dont know if recreational gps units are capable of the 3 digit seconds (check it out to make sure) such as 45° 41' 43.444" if so then you may have to add it to the seconds area instead. And it also means that your going to have to change some of the settings to do this on your gps system. Or solve it out but I am guessing that solving it yourself would be overkill. Can you give me the geocache your looking at so we can better understand the issue?

You are giving way too much information about a Virtual, I mean Puzzle, I mean Multi "cache". Try masking or using hypothetical numbers next time. Of course, those early responses are also quite liberal with tossing around active "cache" numbers. Absent any other instruction, I would imagine that lining up the decimal points and adding the columns is the way to go.

There is no log for this cache, but I ask anyone who finds this cache to take a picture of each location and send it to ****************@gmail.com. Good Luck and Happy Hunting!!!

At a minimum, I would just put this one on the IGNORE list.

Oh and Ash, its not a Dumb Question you asked. If you do not understand it then its good to ask. :) There are enough of us here that are more then happy to help. And Red is sorta right. Using fake coordinates are better when you know what your doing. I do not agree with his/her dramatic answer however. As far as I am concerned, you can post pitures of the geocaches, tell us the coordinates, offer to point it out right in front of our faces and have a map showing us right where it is so we dont have to use a gps. Ill never remember this geocache nor will I be able to be in the area to find it :-p

Eegads! A 9 stage virtual, um, I mean multi? Will the CO delete finds if they don't send in the required pics? How'd this ever get published?

Good question, seems to fall foul of a few guidelines, no logbook, ALR....maybe the reviewer was having an off-day, or there is a high degree of flexibility in the States?

I did the research in order to report that cache. Someone beat me to it. Things are NOT "more flexible" in the States; the cache was disabled by a reviewer. "Unfortunately changes made after the submission was listed do not meet the guidelines for listing on geocaching.com."<br style="color: rgb(89, 74, 66); font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, Geneva, sans-serif; line-height: 18px; ">
