I like geocaching. I am not a Facebook user nor do I want it shoved down my throat.

When I click on my link for login with geocaching.com, the "FIRST" thing I see on the webpage is a Logo for FACEBOOK (login with Facebook). Which begs the question, is this now a FACEBOOK website or are you people at geocaching.com just a bunch of suck-ups? How much kick back money $$$ are you getting for putting their logo up top? You've officially sold your soul to the devil and lost ALL integrity.

May I suggust relocating the Facebook logo UNDER the login vs above the login??? Is that too much to ask? I honestly feel like you're promoting Facebook more than you're promoting Geocaching.com.

In the event you decide not to relocate the Facebook logo, then is too much to ask that you change the website address to the following:

www.facebookcomesfirst/geocachingcomeslast.com

This could very well be my last premium membership. I will not go premium in the future if your website continues to promote Facebook first.

FB is here.
Discontinuing your ability to run PQs, have access to PM caches, fav points, etc isn't going to change that.

GS doesn't care when people threaten to not renew their PM status. Do you remember when Challanges were introduced? Were you ever on the user voice forum? Because tons of people threatened the same thing. Challanges remain, GS survived, and I doubt anybody changed their PM status. If they did, it only affected them, and not GS.

I don't even see the FB logo when I log in. I won't link my FB acct to here, but I won't die on a hill over it either.

I could almost guarantee that not only is GS NOT getting paid to have Facebook functionality, but it is more likely that they are paying a decent sum for the privilege. With social media being on the epic rise it currently finds its self on, many of GS members who are already a part of the Facebook phenomena would have requested a better way to interlink their geocaching life with the rest of their world and this is the reason why GS have brought us this brilliant solution.

If you don't like it, that is fine, just don't use it. The original option remains and I'm certain that will stay. I'm sure that GS will find that this move by them will actually be amazing for their business. your 30 bucks a year will be oh so sorely missed.

This is very sad indeed. Even If the connection to facebook will increase geocaching.com's business, it is very bad manners to just step on the achievements, feeling and concerns of all the geocaching.com member that worked hard to keep their data out of facebook.

(Hard work indeed, when your friends give fb access to their phone's addressbook with an app or don't know any other way to share fotos and so on...)

Even tough the impact on privacy will propably be minimal, Groundspeak.com could at least have made an announced about this. Declared what that cooperation with fb actually involves, and so on. But sadly there seems to not have been any Info whatsoever.

No problem. Don't link your FB acct here and nothing changes.

Just for the record, I don't care if they use FB, however, I don't want it to be the first thing I see. Like I mentioned before, put it below the regular login. Keep Geocaching a geocaching website and the other links should be available but not the first option. People are losing touch with whom they are and why they're here.

When someone starts a business, you have a plan. I understand businesses have to grow and adapt. But I don't believe they should lose focus of who they are and why they got into business. This is a geocaching website and they didn't get into business to become a social media website. Whatever social media BS they decide to adopt and add to their game plan, it shouldn't take precedence. When I go to log in, my first login choice shouldn't be sign in with your Facebook account, however, it SHOULD be my geocaching acct.

As someone mentioned (xro), FB privacy is not that private. People give access to their contact lists and other stuff. I don't care for it. I don't care that the rest of the world does but leave me out of it. Trust me, I go through this stuff with my family (mom, brother, wife, amongst others) regarding invites and they all say they never sent an invite......but someone did and it all goes back to the apps and FB.

I'm not trying to get the geocaching website to get rid of FB. relocate it on their webpage. All you FB users shouldn't feel threatened. Keep using it for all I care. Just don't force it upon me or give me the impression you're forcing it upon me.

And for all you people chiming in, please keep your 2 cents to yourself. My original post is directed at the geocaching.com website. Unless you represent geocaching.com please refrain from making this personal. If you're pro FB, then go start your own FB thread. I promise not to respond.

As the OP has made their comment, but told others with contrary comments to be quiet, I am closing this thread.

This is a discussion forum. You can talk one-on-one to Groundspeak by writing them an email. I suppose you won't post to their wall.
