Hi,

Would anyone be interested in a Gadget Show Live style show for Geocaching? It could be like a conference, with stands from geocaching shops, an outdoor concregation area, and some speeches from guests. What are your opinions?

Sounds a bit like a mega event but with a twist. I like the idea in principal though and would possibly attend if it wasn't too far away.

Thanks for your reply. How far would you travel to attend this form of event? I would try to host it in the centre of the country at an exhibition centre. Probably not the NEC to minimise costs. There may be a small ticket price to cover our costs.

The Geolympix in Oxford this July (free to attend) will have several suppliers of caching kit and equipment in attendance. The danger with having an entry fee, or a 'commercial gathering', is that Groundspeak may not let it be an official geocaching event. No GC.com smiley means fewer attendees, a harder to promote expo and no exposure via Geocaching forums. You'd need to come up with something pretty special to overcome those disadvantages.

I haven't paid it the attention that perhaps I should. I mistakenly thought you had organised it all.
Urbandude23, I guess if you can make the event meet with all the guidelines, you could have some interest. Good luck if you proceed.
Now, lets have a better look at this Geolympammybob....
