What's going on here then?

Got an email saying the cache my geocoin is located in has been archived - looked at the cache listing where a reviewer has written;
"Archived pending negotiations. Would the CO please remove the cache urgently? Thanks"
Just curious as to what this means.

This cache is close to home so I'm going to attempt to grab my geocoin before the cache itself is removed.

I'm surprised you took the time to post.

Sounds like the cache is placed where no caches are allowed - National Park, Private Property, School Property, etc.

This cache was published in 2010 by one reviewer and the archive note is from a different one. It is strange that it would be archived instead of disabled by the reviewer with no known posting about what the problem. If the reviewer wants negotiations why the archive and order to remove. Very strange.

Nothing odd about that. The number of reviewers has increased greatly in the past two years, including in the UK. As more caches are hidden, the reviewer covering a large territory brings on a helper and they split that territory in half. Happens all the time - I've done it seven times in nine years.

Not strange at all. This has the earmarks of "land manager complained to Groundspeak." When this happens -- and I'm not saying that's what happened here because I don't know -- Groundspeak contacts the reviewer for that area and instructs the reviewer to archive the cache. Then discussions of the problem can take place.

Okay, it's just normally when a situation such as this occurs it's not worded in this way.

Unfortunately by the time I got to the cache the container was there but the cache itself was not, had to report my coin as missing :(

Confused. The container was there but the cache itself wasn't?

The cache itself seems to have been in some host container.

From the cache page: "It is a small tupperware cylinder hidden inside something that blends in with the surroundings."

So maybe the cache owner has removed the cache as requested by the reviewer, if so they should have your coin. It would be worth dropping the CO a mail asking if they know what happened to your coin.

Or maybe the Land Owner...
