Hey there,
I would like to know how I can go geocaching with the help of the I Pad2. Is there an app which shows me the caches on the map AND navigates me to the coordinates? And if not, can anybody recomment a navigation app?
Thanks a lot, graefin90

ipad works just like the iPhone... For 9.99 you can download an app and search caches near you.... Pick the one you want.. Once you find the cache you can post your Find or DNF instantly... I always post my find in the field then edit them once I get home...

The iPad 2 does NOT have a GPS in it, so the app will not work properly unless you have the 3G version

My understanding is that the IPad2 also only runs on wifi and if this is the case in most locations you are not going to have success.

I would also be concerned about the ruggedness or the Ipad for field use.

You can get the iPad 2 with 3G and wifi, but as mentioned the iPad doesn't have an inbuilt gps so it's MUCH less accurate than the iPhone or a GPSr. The Groundspeak geocaching app is the same as the iPhone app - there isn't a HD version for the iPad so you just get the small screen version that you can 2x to fit the screen. IMO you technically COULD geocache using an iPad but it's not ideal. It's not really a good size to take with you in the field, I'd be concerned about damaging it. The gps is only ok and you can get way better in much more convenient devices, you'd probably draw more muggle attention to yourself as well.
