GPS'n Jäs
Hello everyone! Geocaching has introduced me to the wonderful world of hiking, and the outdoors in general. What do you all carry with you when you Cache? I realize the GPS, extra batteries, maps... what I'm more interested in is this: if you plan to hike for 3-5 hours, thru urban territory or rolling hill fire trail park stuff, what do you take with you? I'm not talking rock climbing here, but I'm definitely into parking the car at the trailhead and heading 5+ miles into a state park. I've found that packing the 3-5 liters of water I'll drink weighs a ton. I get away with it cause I'm a huge guy. What do you all do? Its hard to image you’re all carrying 10-15lbs of gear/water… Here is what I pack (and yes, I always feel way over-prepared): JanSport Goshawk 40 Overnight Pack Garmin GPS V Platypus Water Tank 6 Streamlight 68202 7 LED Flashlight AMK UltraLight .7 First Aid Kit Ultimate Survival Deluxe Tool Kit U-Dig-It Hand Shovel MRS Overland Carbon Walking Stick Various PowerBars and other foodstuffs All cache related requirements. Is there anything you see blatantly missing? Thus far, all has come in handy. And yes, I drink all the water over the coarse of 5 hours! Famous last words: These coordinates can't be right? +BeachBuddies
Check out these topics: What's in your Geocaching pack? Suggestions for equipment when geocaching What's REALLY in your pack. You'll find many others if you use the Advance Search option, and search on "pack" in just the subject line. Other than the equipment that you have well covered, I bring a digital camera, trade trinkets, and cache maintenance supplies (zip-lock baggies, extra log books). -BB Quote Link to comment

These tracks do not belong to the family dog, and I like to stay on top of the food chain as long as possible. Tahosa - Dweller of Mountain Tops. Quote Link to comment
