Approval Date/time

A few times, I've seen FTFs logged, seemingly within minutes of a cache being approved. Maybe they're just really lucky to be at the cache location when it is approved and have a handheld along, with internet access. Surely no one would use inside information just to increase their number of FTFs...

Anyway, I think it would be a simple matter to include the date and time that a cache is approved to each cache listing, not just the date it was placed. What do you think? Then, if someone logs a FTF two minutes after it is approved, we can all raise our eyebrows in unison. :)

This topic was discussed to death HERE and HERE and HERE. The last link contains the, now infamous, "tough nuts" declaration from Jeremy.

In reality, the only people with "inside information" regarding caches are the cache-placer (and anyone he might have told) and the cache-approver. To save you a lot of reading, to paraphrase, the official word from GC and Jeremy is that:

1 - this sport is supposed to be non-competitive so FTF's shouldn't matter to anyone.

2 - approvers are beyond reproach and would never do such a thing, but;

3 - if they did, that's ok because they earned that right by being an approver, and;

4 - if you don't like it, "tough nuts"

I can hardly wait to see where this thread goes! :);)

The owner gets an email immediately after the cache is approved. Don't you think that they should decide what is fair and what is not?

As for first finder notifications, we'll be adding that feature to the site to give immediate notifications once the cache was approved.

It is an interesting idea to add the approval time to caches. For simply seeing how long it took from listing to find, at least. I'll put this on my "nice to have" list.
