Geocaching Closure In East Bay Regional Parks

Last night, Dandm and myself talked with the Park Supervisor at Hayward Regional Shoreline Park. He has just removed the four caches in his park under instructions from the Supervisor for the East Bay Regional Parks District. All of the other East Bay Regional Parks, 63 total , have been instructed to remove all caches from the parks. He says that they have had problems with people bushwacking, cutting fences, intruding into sensitive areas, digging holes, hiding caches that resemble bombs and locked caches. Rather that issue guidelines, the District Supervisor has decided to remove all caches. The person to contact at District Headquaters is Steve Jones at 510-562-PARK
