+Team DEMP
You only see a warn bar for your posts in a thread, not anyone elses. Everyone sees it. It's likely at 0% which means you weren't warned. Quote Link to comment

Major Catastrophe
Why is it that my posts have a Warn bar when others with fewer post don't show one? Because you're bad. You've been warned... Everybody has a warn bar, you can only see your own. Quote Link to comment

Keystone
Mine has never gone up, but I assume you would get a warning email or PM, and it would go down after a while if you were warned? That is correct. I send a PM each time that I raise -- or lower -- someone's warning meter. Being helpful in answering questions here in the Getting Started forum is one of the best ways to reduce a warn meter. It is the only reason why Stunod is still allowed to post. For 99% of the community, warning meters are irrelevant. It's just there because that is how the forum software is set up. Quote Link to comment

Back on topic, I have yet to receive a warning, though I might've come close a time or two. The important thing is to try not to flame anyone or be rude. As I understand the warning graphic, it 'lights up' dark brown when you've been warned, and is beige normally. Quote Link to comment

Keystone
How do I tell an offical warning from an unoffical one? Not sure if you're serious, but since I do get requests from time to time for "fake" warnings, or suicide by mod, or whatever you want to call it, I will tell you my policy: I always make it painfully clear when a warning is not "real" and how it can be removed. For example, the text on Mushtang's warning meter box (which he can see by clicking on the link by the meter) reads as follows: This is a fake warning issued at Mushtang's request, out of curiosity. But since he "insulted" forum favorite CarleenP, he gets a 10% bump. This warning can be removed by any moderator upon Mushtang's request. RK, I see from your meter that you received a "joke" warning during the first week of using the new forums, when we were all discussing how the new features worked. It was labelled as such, and a different moderator reduced your warn level the next day. All your other ones since then were not jokes. The point being, I would hate for there to be any misunderstanding, since all of the other moderators see your warning meter without knowing the context in which the warning was issued. So it is good to be very clear. Quote Link to comment
